Merch: Tariffs, Tracking, Transfers, Oh My!
To start off this email I want to say how grateful I am for your patience in all of this. Merch shipment has been delayed much more than I wanted it to be, and I’m very thankful to say that things have finally made some progress. Here’s a little update for you on what’s been going on.
I know some of you clicked in here because you didn’t order merch but want to know when you’re getting VOD access. My best answer is before September. Initially we wanted to remain committed to our accessibility mandate and offer closed captioning of all the videos upon release, but oh my god that takes so much time. The goal now is to release all the videos unlisted to our YouTube channel with or without captioning by the end of the month and update captions as soon as they are available. We will indicate whether or not CCs are available in the video titles.

So far we’ve mailed out a few hundred orders, and more have been packed but not yet stamped. Some of you may have already received your orders. Tracking numbers are a little finicky with our shipping provider, but we hope to have those rolled out by the end of this week.
If your order contains only some combination of buttons and/or stickers, then we opted to use Canada Post (see explanation below under tariffs) which does not offer tracking services. You should receive your order via a standard envelope in ~1 week within Canada, 2-3 weeks USA, and 3-4 weeks internationally. If you do not receive your order within this standard time frame after this email was sent, please email us at [email protected].
We are capable of changing addresses for shipping labels right up until they are printed. There may be an extra cost leveed if you move farther away from Canada; i.e. Canada —> USA, USA —> EU, or EU —> international non-EU. We will work out a solution via email; message us at [email protected].
We want all of our orders shipped before Sept 1st, so that is the timeline we can promise. In future our estimates should be a lot more accurate, and we sincerely apologize for the delays. Currently, we are still waiting on a fresh batch of shoelaces to finish production (the turn around time is 4 weeks!) and anticipate a lot of orders being processed this weekend, so if you have any changes that need to be made to your order, make them before Saturday Aug 9!
We completely understand being unsatisfied with our production given the heavy delays. If you would like to refund your order, please message [email protected] with your order number. We will refund the merchandise as well as the shipping cost.
Refunds can be processed right up until a shipping label is printed (and therefore paid for). If we cannot process a refund but you are still unsatisfied, we can work something out via email. We sincerely appreciate your patience with us :)
You may know already, but Trump has recently upped tariffs on non-CUSMA Canadian goods from 25% to 35% and, more importantly, has issued an executive order dismantling the De Minimus exemption. All DashCon 2 merchandise qualifies for tariff exemption under CUSMA and is well under the de minimus threshold, but given the United State’s current relationship to law, the DashCon 2 team has chosen to err on the side of caution.
As such, we are working hard to have everything shipped before the De Minimus exemption ends on August 29th. However, we expect most items to ship out weeks before that. Additonally, in order to be as secure as possible, we have opted to use Canada Post lettermail whenever we can. Lettermail is small and (fiscally) insignificant enough that it should arrive at its destination without incident.
Lexicon
CUSMA: Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement. Renegotiated free trade agreement that replaced NAFTA. Called USMCA in America.
De Minimus Exemption: imported goods valued under $800 USD are exempt from duties. Limited to one package per person per day.
Thank you for continuing to support and believe in us. We couldn’t do this without you.
One more thing. DashCon 3?
