What was their first impression of each other?
You know in those movies when audios overlap of characters saying the same thing? That's with Aspen and Diego.
"He/She's such a show-off. He thinks he's the best duelist in Hogwarts, well, I think her bark is much harsher than her bite. And he says he's an excellent dancer. Ha! I would love to see if she could keep up with me. I don't like him/her."
They're both fiery extroverted attention-loving dancers - after years she'll admit he's a better duelist, but when it comes to the thick gritty confrontations, Aspen is better - so their personalities clash. But it's hard for him to be too harsh with her because Aspen's two years younger so at first he sees her as a cheeky girl and not much more. Deep down, Aspen does find him attractive and charming but she won't admit it for all the galleons in the world.
It takes a while until they finally have a proper conversation and realize they're mirrors of each other.
Daspen is the strongest contender and I could consider Asgo but it just sounds like Ass Go XD. Some of their friends sometimes refer to them as the bailarinos.

I HC that Barnaby's connection to creatures isn’t just a cutesy throwaway thing the game presents, but he can actually “communicate” with them - the more trained or self-conscious the animal is the clearer the communication - and influences to which brand of magizoologist career he goes into later on.
And when it comes to animagus (or any other creature/human dynamics) is almost like he can hear their minds, so he knows how to tell McGonagall apart from a regular cat, has always known it was Talbott hanging out as a bird on the courtyard, and recognizes fragments of Chiara’s mind one night he goes strolling a bit too close to the forbidden forest. But his father and grandma severely reprimanded him about it as a kid whenever he talked about knowing this or that animal was upset, etc, so he kinda keeps it to himself - for example, he could feel his kneazle agonizing when Voldemort drowned it and it was one the most traumatizing moments of his life.
Now Indigo is a little of an exception due to her Legilimency/Occlumency. She can “wrap” her mind well enough to hide it from him when she’s in her cat form that she can hang out close to him without him knowing it’s her - countless times he scratched and pet her, offered her treats, and sometimes even picked her up considering taking as a pet, times she had to fight away from his embrace -, but when she leaves it open, is almost as if they’re having a vocal conversation, the stronger their connection, the stronger their powers over each other.
