it’s 4am rn so bear with me
my bro ( @thebladedancer1158 ) and i stayed up late binge reading the Scarlet Lady comics (which are absolutely amazing and if you haven’t read them the first part to the first ep is here they’re all made by @zoe-oneesama who is just the best) and when we got to the timebreaker episode i had to briefly remind him/explain who ondine is because while he does somewhat pay attention to the fandom (enough to enjoy some of the things created by it) he didn’t watch most of the show. and because it was 3am at the time i started rambling about her canon episode appearance aka her akuma
i talked about how horrible it was tbh. like, it’s a kids show so they’re not going to show dead people, but the entirety of a city was flooded 5 stories high. and you’re not seeing the entire city out on the rooftops...
it was kinda horrifying to think about, and after we finished all the current episodes of our perceived canon MLB (by the amazing zoe) we decided to watch that one weird fanon show that messed it all up (by some dude who’s name i dont remember it’s 3d animation tho). we only watched a few minutes, but i showed him the siren episode
and it was just. kinda scary seeing all that water
but then we got to talking about an au
because he likes doing these “if I were in this universe-” spiel and i like adding on and such and just talking. this time he said “i would record every death ever caused by an akuma, every crime hawkmoth has done as a terrorist” and im like wait that’s a good au idea
seriously, imagine it. au where someone, maybe someone in the class, maybe someone separate from the class like we imagined, recorded EVERYTHING in akuma attacks, as much as they could. kinda like a data collector. they ask for citizens who were affected to come forward. they count the deaths. count the injuries. people are brought back, but so many children are scared of drowning again that they’re refusing to bathe (because how many kids did you see on those roofs? i saw adults for the most part...) so many people get phantom pain from an erased injury, people remember what it felt like to die in horrified violent ways. maybe they’re back now, but their death isn’t meaningless.
so it’s recorded.
it’s recorded with the intention of not letting hawkmoth get away with everything he caused.
hawkmoth’s lawyer can try to argue that there is no damage caused by the attacks, but that lawyer will argue to the faces of parents who took their children and themselves to therapy to try and overcome their fear of water, to the faces of adults knowing what it’s like to suffocate in space, what the burning of entering the atmosphere is like without protection, to the faces of people who lost their children just to get them back, to the faces of thousands of citizens with thousand yard stares and who’s deaths should count.
im probably going to ramble more about this au later after more is discussed w/ my brother, but it is something to consider. in a world where people were more competent, maybe the worst thing about akumas isn’t the delay in traffic or the gaudy costumes. maybe it’s waking up in a cold sweat trying to breathe in imaginary water. how many people were most afraid of akumas when Sandboy visited them? perhaps the child’s “nightmare” was from an akuma attack too...
