We're all in the data business
At least, so Gary Nakamura tells us in a guest post for Re/code...
Simply put, no matter what kind of company you are, you’re in the data business and you’re sitting on a kind of mine, whether or not you’ve tapped it.
It's true. But it's also worth remembering that getting too far into the data business might become a distraction from doing whatever it is that pays the bills.
Your data has value. So do the widgets you make, the diners you feed, the passengers you carry and the crops that you harvest.
Sometimes, the best course might be to (carefully!) let someone else mine your data for you.
