Female Daurian Redstart (Phoenicurus auroreus) Once seen only in winter, breeding records within the country have increased. Breeding was first confirmed in Karuizawa in 2017, and it is now commonplace to see them in summer too. The English name ‘Daurian Redstart’ derives from the region of eastern Russia, “Dauria”, in the first part, while the latter part, ‘start’, appears to be an old name for the tail feathers.
ジョウビタキのメス かつては冬にだけ見られたが、国内繁殖例が増加中。軽井沢でも2017年に繁殖が初確認され、近年は当たり前のように夏でも見られる。 英名"Daurian Redstart"の、前半の"Dauria"はロシア東部の地域名、後半の"start"は尾羽の古名とのこと。
