Dauthi Voidwalker (Store Championship 2024 Ver) by Andreia Ugrai
Hello, I have a question.
If my oponent has a Dauthi Voidwalker in play can I still play my Madness cards? The text in the card says they are discarded into exile, so I am not sure how this works.
Thank you very much for all the work you do here.
Yes, absolutely.
When you discard a card with Madness, it's exiled instead of put into your graveyard. A trigger then goes on the stack that allows you to cast it for its madness cost when the trigger resolves. If you don't cast it then it goes into your graveyard.
With Dauthi Voidwalker, that whole process works the same way except if you choose to not cast the madness card from exile. In that case, it would try to go to the graveyard, but Voidwalker's ability replaces that with exiling it with a void counter on it. This means that the card gets exiled again, even though it's already in the exile zone, and becomes a new object there with the void counter on it.
And yes, you can indeed exile things that are already exiled. It's weird, but the rules allow it.
