Flowers have Faces
'It came to Britain from the U.S.A. where young people, hating the war in Vietnam and confused by their materialistic society searched for- and found something new to believe in. Now there are many faces to Flower Power. So many that a lot of us here in Britain are going around feeling confused hardly daring to ask what it's all about after all the cruel and kind things have been said, yet still wanting to know what Flower Power really means. So let's sit down and talk about America's latest export with a little help from some pop friends...'
JACK BRUCE of The Cream points out that pacifism isn't easy in this uneasy world. "Sometimes you get people trying to pick fights, and in all the books you read it says turn the other cheek. I did that in Glasgow, and all that happened was I got hit again. You see, there are still some people who only understand violence. You can't expect to win them over in a moment. All you can hope for is that if you're patient you'll make them realise in time that violence achieves nothing. Flower Power must overcome violence in time. There are still lots of old rockers about, and that movement had no ideals. The Flower movement has fine ideals of peace and love. That must make it more powerful in the end."

"What have drugs got to do with love? You can achieve self-realisation all on your own and that's what love is... knowing yourself then putting yourself aside and thinking all the time of other people."
