The tax increase used to improve public services may be the best method for stimulating the economy
the Representative Dave Camp proposed a reform of the tax system, which would reduce the rates, significantly reduce the tax code's subsidies and maintain income levels and tax distributions throughout the income classes

Obama IRS targeted for audit 1 in 10 donors to conservative groups
Under Obama, conservative Americans suddenly found themselves living not in the U.S.A., but in the (former) Soviet Union. In 2013-14, news came that the all-powerful Internal Revenue Service of the Obama administration was singling out for scrutiny conservative groups that had applied for non-profit status. A former IRS official at the heart of the agency's tea party controversy called Republicans "crazies" and more in newly released emails.
Lois Lerner used to head the IRS division that handles applications for tax-exempt status. In a series of emails with a colleague in November 2012, Lerner made two disparaging remarks about members of the GOP, including one remark that was profane.
Republican Rep. Dave Camp, who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee, released the emails Wednesday as part of his committee's investigation. Camp says the emails show Lerner's disgust with conservatives.
In one email, Lerner called them crazies. In the other, she called them "assholes." The committee redacted the wording to "_holes" in the material it released publicly, but a committee spokeswoman confirmed to the AP that the email said "assholes."
Congress and the Justice Department are investigating whether the IRS improperly scrutinized applications for tax-exempt status from conservative groups.

My CBPP colleague Chuck Marr flags something important from a recent press release by Rep. Dave Camp, the Republican Chair of the tax writing committee in the House.
In regard to their bill to patch the Highway Trust Fund through next May, Rep. Camp writes:
I certainly do not support permanent tax increases to pay for just 10 months of highway programs.…

VIDEO: Jerry Seib: Is Tax Reform on the Horizon?
Now could be the perfect time, politically, to reform the tax code. With a bipartisan effort in congress spearheaded by Rep. Dave Camp (R.,MI.) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D., OR.) along with many companies heading overseas for tax havens, the frustration and leadership may be the spark to real reform. Photo: AP

Top House Republicans call for special prosecutor to investigate IRS
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) on Friday called for Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. They pointed to the now infamous missing emails as well as new evidence that ex-official Lois Lerner wanted to unnecessarily audit Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) as reasons why the agency needs to be independently investigated:
“It is clear that appointing an outside Special Counsel to investigate this matter would be in the public interest,” Camp and Goodlatte said in the letter to Holder. “ The American people are very concerned that their government has targeted individual American citizens for harassment solely on the basis of their political beliefs. They deserve to know who ordered the targeting, when the targeting was ordered, and why.”
Let’s be honest here: How much good is this strongly worded letter going to do? In reality, it’s just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
