i dunno about the floor fight over the state party endorsement (goddamn!) but dave min (democrat running in ca-45) could not be more tailor-made to appeal to my (republican because of taxes, first-gen immigrant #nevertrumper) uncle who lives in that district if they engineered him in a lab.
and besides, ca-45 is irvine which is significantly asian-american (the affluent, well-educated, lived in white areas most of their lives type), and i do think being able to vote for an asian dude would be a huge draw. my mother’s voice went all high-pitched when she found out about kamala harris and she’s not even east asian.
