This is concept art from spring 2008 - When I first met Josh and Jenn they wrote a 2 page outline for Robot and Monster, then I sketched out first ideas for the characters. This is a great visual example of how much characters change from initial concept to final model

My original notes on the Ogo design. My first drawing was to help the modelers get the volumes and contours of his body. His default lazy posture was important - the line of action is kind of a lazy S even though as the character developed he was much more energetic and hyper. Also note that Gart was still named Gort at this point in the production.

An amazing find, the list of the season 2 episodes, This was in a document that I hadn't looked at in a while. That said I must make these statements:

1 I do not remember what the episodes were about, Just what I have already said about Blimp Pirates and the info below.

2 I believe Best In Marf is the Animatic that is on vimeo

3. I remember Legend of Big Toe was going to be a Robo-Scouts adventure in the woods looking for Big Toe this would have introduced Globitha and other Kid friends.

4 I have none of the art work, I don't know why because it should be on a back up drive so sorry to say this is Lost Media

Now you know the titles! And you can see the dates of where the stories were at for writing and which ones that never made it to outline.

Recently I found an early on model drawing of Robot from 2009 when we were making the pilot for Robot and Monster. The eyes are a bit higher on the face, his features are more rounded, his weight falls more to the lower part of his body. These were my notes I traced over the CG model just to make all of the lines very clear.

One more Ogo image! This was from the pitch bible at first he was going to wear headphones that weren't plugged into anything and we changed up the configuration of the face.

could we see the baconmas allergic reaction ogo concepts in higher quality? u showed them once on the 2020 stream :)

Here is probably my first concept art the modelers were seeing how far we can push the model without changing the rig

Some bonus BTS about the title cards. I always love animated show title cards and wanted to have unique illustrations for every episode. As the episode was being finalized I would start by sketching out the idea then I would do a rough color. Our animation supervisor Martin Leeper would pose the character models and render them. Our amazing background artist Wesley "Lito" Paguio would then paint any characters or elements that were still needed and put the finishing polish on the whole thing. I would do the final lettering and then it would get added to the episode. Team work!
