Mini-review:
Look, The Platform 2 isn't a bad movie, it just feels... unnecessary. The first one was so impactful and memorable precisely because of its simplicity. Therefore, by adding so much lore and mythology here, they just overcomplicated the concept. The original film never shone for its subtlety, but now there's not an single ounce of it left, and sometimes its ideas end up kind of muddled. Still, these flaws are mostly compensated by its propulsive pace, stunning imagery and powerful performances. I do believe Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia has a lot of potential as a filmmaker, but I really hope he doesn't return to this world unless he comes up with something truly worth telling.
