The Bear 3.10 "Forever"
Chef and his sous
Chef David when Carmy breaths.
Rewatching 3x10 because I love that episode and realizing that Joel McHale is absolutely HAUNTING as David Fields. Except for this episode, in every episode, he is just a ghost. The ghost of Carmy’s failures. And he is so so exceptional, that as soon as we see Carm stare him down (his stare, also scary as FUCK), and then Fields notices and looks at him and smile….I get full body chills. Complete and utter terror. It’s the first time he’s a real presence in the room with Carmy in the present and it is terrifying. And then Carmy’s conversation with him in the back…oh man. He is cold and cruel and exacting and he knows exactly what he is doing and I truly applaud the way a character with such little actual screen time creates so much fear and so much intimidation just by being in the scene.
As a Community fan, I already knew he does complex characters like a damn pro, his portrayal of Jeff and his complex character arc is astounding, so his guest role in The Bear only solidifies his acting chops. Fabulous. Disconcerting.
And if I said this whole exchange was kinda hot then what, huh. Yes, chef. No, chef. I'll do better chef. I can handle it, chef. Sorry, chef. Head down, plating rapidly, taking all his nastiness and insults. This is not to say that i would want these two together, that'd be awful. I'm just saying Syd and Carm could tap into this dynamic for (non abusive) kink related reasons.
Everyone's a freak until a real freak comes along (me)
THE EVER WALL PHOTOGRAPHS. THE BEAR
I didn't see these pictures but the implication is that
chef David Fields
Chef Rene Redzepi
Carmy and Luca
And others
All of them worked at Ever restaurant under chef terry.
So another quick loose end to look into
can season 5 just give us someone talking with carmy about the abuse he suffered under chef fields? like, richie asking him to elaborate on “it wasn’t like that”, or syd and luca asking him about what happened after he left the table at the ever funeral, or carmy telling everyone exactly why he ended up having a meltdown locked in a fridge after actually hallucinating his abuser???
someone needs to talk to him about it man
