Basically Sydney makes all of them look good

He was talking about executive producers in Hollywood

He was an executive producer on Santa Clarita Diet

He said they do NOTHING

Just collect a check

What THEY MIGHT also do, if they act on your show as well, is create a power imbalance. So if the 'collaborate' in the writers room, they might get more airtime than is necessary

They might go on a morning talk show and disparage a lead actor's on screen character and upset the fans, without a care in the world

They might favor another actor or actress who is a minor character and try to elevate that character TO THE UTTER DETRIMENT OF YOUR SHOW

And other actors would be afraid to speak out, if they had to share their airtime or storyline with executive producers who are actors, that have minor roles

They might block access to the show runner

If they're friends with the show runner, he may not want to hear you out if you have a grievance

And then the STUDIO EXECUTIVES have to step in and clean their clock

Then hope that your season 4 and 5 are better even though significant damage has been done
