No sign of missing Brit in Tioman
PULAU TIOMAN, June 3:
British tourist Gareth David Huntley, 34, has gone missing for a week and the search for him seems to have reached a dead end.
Nevertheless, the effort to search for Juara Turtle Centre volunteer is being intensified with additional personnel and assets.
Pahang police chief Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said the search area had been expanded to seven square kilometres from the location Huntley was reported missing at the Lubuk Teja Waterfall area in Kampung Juara here on May 27.
He said the number of search-and-rescue (SAR) personnel now stood at 154, from the state police, marine police, Rela, army, Fire and Rescue Department and others.
“We have also added four more dogs, namely, two from the K9 Unit and two more from the Fire and Rescue Department, bringing the total number to seven (to help in the search),” he told reporters after visiting the location Huntley was reported missing at the waterfall area today.
He said 20 members of VAT 69. from the Hulu Kinta Camp, Perak would join in the mission to look for the victim. To date, the SAR operation was at its optimum.
Meanwhile, Huntley’s mother, Janet Southwell, in her 50s, said she was satisfied with the efforts of the security forces in looking for her son.
The woman, who arrived here yesterday from Britain, said she could only pray and hope that his son, second of three siblings, would soon be found safe.
She said her son was expected to start his new job in Singapore next week and was spending his holiday in Pulau Tioman for 10 days, volunteering at the Juara Turtle Centre.
“The last time I spoke to him was 10 days ago.”

KUANTAN, May 31:
The disappearance of Englishman Gareth David Huntley, who went missing after going to the Lubuk Teja Waterfalls, near Tioman Island, last Tuesday, remains a mystery as the search and rescue team has yet to find any leads to find him.
Rompin district police chief Deputy Superintendent Johari Jahaya said the search for the man, involving an eight-member team from the State Fire and Rescue Department, as well as the police K9 Tracker Dog Unit, entered its fifth day today.
The search is also assisted by members from the Civil Defence Department and local residents, he said when contacted by Bernama.
Huntley, 34, said to be a volunteer for a turtle project in Kampung Juara, near Tioman Island, was believed to have gone to the vicinity of the waterfalls alone about noon on that day.
Friends lodged a report on his disappearance last Thursday when he failed to return.
Close friends and relatives of Huntley have set up a Facebook page ‘Find Gareth Huntley’ to help find him.
The latest information on the page also stated that Huntley’s family members and close friends from England were on their way to Kuala Lumpur

Take a listen to the latest track, I've recorded with my good friend Benjamin Payne.
I'll be sailing away on a disney cruise liner for four months to work as a sound technician sometime soon.
The lyrics of the song came to me as soon as I heard Ben playing the melody.
The track is called "With you in mind" and the song is about wanting to grow as a person and how you can be on the other side of the world and still think about one person.
Anyway please spread this song like wildfire, as we're very keen to get as many people to hear our music as possible.
