Harry Reid: Democrats Have No Billionaires

Harry Reid- math challenged? Seems to not know his own party has lots of billionaires

On Thursday morning, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D – NV) appeared on the Senate Floor to disparage the Supreme Court’s recent decisions regarding campaign finance reform. During the address, Senator Reid claimed his party – the Democrats – “does not have any billionaires.”

“Decisions by the Supreme Court have left the American people with the status quo in which one side’s billionaires are pitted against the other side’s billionaires. Except one side does not have any billionaires.”

Later that same day, CNN reporter Jake Tapper countered Senator Reid’s remarks on The Lead:

“One side doesn’t have many billionaires? The left doesn’t have many billionaire backers, really? Well, you could name George Soros, David Shah, Irwin Jacobs, just to name a few. Let’s not forget, of course, Tom Steyer. You know, Tom Steyer?”

“Steyer’s a hedge fund billionaire bursting onto the political scene on behalf of environmental causes.”

Harry was a little…um…delusional?

Soros, aka Dr. Evil, is worth a kajillion bajillion dollars, and has his wealth protected by sharks with frickin’ laser beams on their heads. He starting building said wealth by collaborating with the Nazis in World War II, and solidified it by selling counterfeit livers to alcoholic rubes. Soros is the founder of MoveOn.org, a website initially intended to help citizens “move on” from the Clinton impeachment before stalling by the eeeeevil George W. Bush.

Soros’ actual wealth is estimated at $23 billion, but remember, there is a shortage of billionaires – and 700-year old mummies – on the Democrat side.

I’m fairly sure David Shah was the guy who wrestled as The Iron Sheik in the WWF. Other than that, I know nothing of his work.

Irwin Jacobs is the co-founder of Qualcomm Telecommunications, a business worth $24 billion. Jacobs, for his part, is only worth $1.55 billion, which means he is the equivalent of the white trash cousin George Soros never talks about. Most of Jacobs’ donations go to such right-wing causes as universities, journalism schools, and National Public Radio.

Unless Senator Reid forgot to carry a one, or is using Common Core math, Jacobs is another Democrat billionaire.

Tom Steyer, of the South Central Steyers, is the baby of the group. Born in 1957, he could be Soros or Jacobs’ not-so-great grandson. Politically, Steyer couldn’t pick a winner from his nose. He worked on the Mondale campaign – Mondale: Politics’ D-student – supported Cankles Clinton, and enjoys a smoldering bromance with Barack Obama.

Steyer’s passion is environmental issues… and bubble baths. He is highly involved in renewable energy sources – like reusable diapers, I suppose – and donated $5 million to California’s Prop 23 environmental campaign. Steyer is a liberal’s liberal; a man who whined about outside activists influencing Prop 23, but gleefully supported Terry McAuliffe’s bid for the Virginia governorship.

Tommy Boy is worth a paltry $1.6 billion, but since that is a billion with a “b,” – much to Senator Reid’s chagrin – he is a billionaire.

Now I am not a doctor (but I played one in grade school). It would be imprudent of me to declare Senator Reid mentally ill, but at the very least, the man is mathematically-challenged. We can argue whether Dingy Harry said “any billionaires” or “many billionaires,” but in either case, the man is confused at best or lying at worst. There is just as much Big Money in the Democrat Party as there is in the Republican Party. Suggesting otherwise should result in a visit from Frau Farbissina, founder of the militant wing of the Salvation Army. .CPlase_panel display:none;
