Me, watching Sphene interact with Alexei in a way that directly parallels how Emet Selch treated him through all of Shadowbringers as someone who ‘knew’ him but actually knew a completely different rendition of his soul, and now this time Alexei is the one who ‘knows’ Sphene but is making the active choice to learn about just her instead of the Endless Sphene:

One of my favorite 'discourses' within the Final Fantasy fandom is whenever a new Final Fantasy game/expansion includes something sci-fi to it. Cause then you get think pieces of, "Why are we including sci-fi aspects to a high fantasy series again?" And...
Putting aside Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 13.
Did you know that the second to last dungeon of Final Fantasy 1 is a giant high tech aircraft that is practically floating in space?
And the aircraft has robot enemies in it, including a 'War Mech' which serves as the secret super boss of FF1?
And this entire thing was built by an ancient civilization of ancients known as the Lufenians who once lived in flying cities?
Cause like... The 'sci-fi-ification of Final Fantasy' has always been here. The call has always been coming from inside the house. And it's never been much of an issue in the sense that the world building always makes it work.
And we still absolutely get our high fantasy stories.
