Because they're stinky this time of year?
Because they’re invasive and will clog up all yo drainage ditches and fields with spiny spiny pears

I like because it covers my face, but it’s not very inconspicuous
Week 3 - August 18th 2015
So I’ve now been training for roughly three weeks with my friend, Athena. She’s been a trainer for over 10 years and used to own her own fitness studio. Things have been going really well, and by really well I mean that I went from zero experience in a gym to doing a 90lb/40.8kg deadlift in a matter of three weeks.
I’m trying not to let her praises go to my head too much. She told me when we first started training that she quit the industry when she sold her fitness facility because it was disheartening when the average person would only stick with something for two months before quitting. She vowed she would never train another person, until I came along. We started very tentatively till she realized I was serious about what I wanted to accomplish.
She told me there’s something special about me, today. About how I can work a full routine of sets without being horribly sore on our next day. We tend to meet up every other day. She also mentioned it was very impressing how quickly my strength has increased during this short period. She mentioned that some of the strongest lifters didn’t start till they were in their late 20s, finding that untapped special ability and she really feels like I could head in that direction.
Athena does not bullshit nor does she give praise lightly. I thought I might pass out as she gave me that talk just after doing the deadlift set. I might have been slightly light headed and riding an epinephrine high. I was grinning, though. I bet it was a cheesy, shy grin, too.
Physical Therapy
I knew for a while that I compensated on my left side for an injury I got 12 years ago while playing soccer. I started going to see a PT/Chiropractor two weeks ago and we’re already seeing improvement on the rotation in my hips, knee, and ankle on my right side.
Today I graduated to doing the same exercise with a resistance band to strengthen the muscles that have been long neglected after said injury. Even after just two weeks the range of movement in my hip is better and my ankle is far more flexible.
I started doing all of this at the same time because I wanted to make a complete lifestyle change. Previously I avoided getting these things taken care of due to sheer laziness and not realizing how much of an impact it was making on my body.
Day 1
Stats:
Age: 31
Gender: Non-Binary/Androgynous
Height: 5′4″ / 162cm
Weight: 150lbs / 68kg
Measurements:
Chest: 36″ / 91cm
Waist: 29″ / 74cm
Hip: 41″ / 104cm
I’ve wanted to be in peak physical condition for several years and each time I’ve tried I’ve managed 2-3 months at a time before something happened which kicked me off track. I was going about this by myself for the most part and I recognize this is not the best way for me.
I have self-motivation but I flail at the gym and I just don’t know the effectiveness of certain workouts. I also don’t really know how to eat properly. This time around I’ve found myself a friend and trainer to help me through. Today was actually my second time meeting with Athena, but it was the day that it really sunk in that I was going to do this.
I have an idea of where I’d like to get my body and how I’m going to do it. We’ve already got some small goals, like accomplishing real pushups instead of modified pushups by the end of the month and training my brain and creating those neural pathways on how to move my arms when using free weights. This is all new so my body is currently going “wtf bro”.
