Arthur pulled Mordred and I aside today, and confided in us that he was afraid the knights would start petitioning to remove him from his throne. He made sure to reassure us that it was neither of our faults, and we should not lay blame upon our shoulders for it, and that he does not regret his decision to love us. But, he told us, Camelot is more than a kingdom to him; more than a throne, more than the weight of a crown. During his time as its King, Arthur has come to see Camelot as his horde- a precious treasure to be defended with his life. He’s afraid that if things continue as they are… he’ll forget what’s important as he tries with all his might to defend his horde.
