Full text: danforthfleak.tumblr.com Debated all evening with myself about whether to share this, as I can be horrifically guilty of “over sharing”, but in the end, I decided that sharing the bad things can be just as important as the good :) In the last few days an infection in my leg developed from the wound I received when Rodg sent me over the front of my handle bars when we were biking in D.C. at the beginning of November. While I did not smash my head (in a rush I’d forgotten my helmet), the bike flipped over and the frame bashed a pretty good sized chunk in my left shin. It had scabbed up and seemed to be healing, although quite slowly. I had a similar injury to my right leg last year, and my doctor mentioned that injuries to that part of the leg take longer to heal because there isn’t a lot of blood flow. So I didn’t worry too much about it - even ran a half marathon with it and had no problems. The scab came off early this week - against all my instincts, I had done a great job of not fussing with it. But the scab coming off must have allowed the infection to start. So I spent the afternoon in the ER getting IV antibiotics and now am hopefully on the mend. All my love and thanks to my Aunt Anne for taking me to the ER and to Cousins Meg and Kate Fulford for putting up with the sickly trio of me, Rodg, and Johnsonville!
