DayClan!
There are way too many cats in this damn clan
The next moon update is challenging so have an extra kitty. This is Ashenstar from @dayclan! I know nothing about them but assume they're a worrier and predict much stress in their future. It was fun to draw a black cat for once!
Paws of Chance Leader Cards
I wanted to draw some of the leaders again, especially Shimmerstar. So here's the current clan leaders (and a few past/present for Moonclan) and some little details about each of them.
Also while doing Halostar I had a wild idea for how to make Sora fit into the story more... We'll see if I commit to it but I think I might be cooking something with that ..
finally got some free time for doodling so here’s a hound
Dark Forest Residences: Siltstar & Firefeather
Siltstar
Aliases / Nicknames: Siltstripe
Gender: female
Sexuality: lesbian
Family: unknown mother, unknown father, Firefeather (mate, formerly)
Other Relations: unnamed mentor, Quietsight
Clan: DayClan
Rank: Leader
Characteristics: bloodthirsty, good fighter, devoted to StarClan
Murder Motive: rid her Clan of those who spoke against Starclan
Number of Victims: 20
Number of Murders: 15
Murder Method: unspecified, getting others to kill for her
Known Victims: Cinnamonpatch, Firefeather, Grasspath, Meadowbite, Rainpaw, Ivysong, several unknown DayClan cats
Victim Profile: those she considered heretics
Cause of Death: brain-eating amoeba
Cautionary Tale: we left the stars for a reason
Story:
Siltkit always grew up wondering. "Why did we leave StarClan?"
Because they are cruel.
"Don't cats make mistakes?"
Some are unforgivable.
"I didn't think-"
Siltkit, shush.
But Siltpaw was different. Quiet. Commanding. Always ready to fight. Surely it had nothing to do with the cats in her dreams.
StarClan wanted her to take over DayClan? Well, Rainpaw, you didn't really talk to Skystar, and he didn't really tell you that. Why don't you just take a walk along the beach?
No, those stormclouds are fine.
Oh, Firepaw? You want to go exploring? ....Oh. Wait, you didn't hear--Oh. So it's not an issue. Alright. You're not half bad, you know.
.... .... .... Siltstripe! Siltstripe! Siltstripe!
The warrior immediately took on an apprentice. Quietpaw, who shared the same additude with her on...everything. Firefeather joked that they were gulls of a feather.
Before long, Siltstripe was dragging the bloody body of Ivysong into the sea. And wouldn't you know, she was made deputy!
All she had to do was wait.... And she was Siltstar! Sort of. Limbo didn't give her the gifts and power that they gave other leaders, but that was alright.
Now the real fun could begin.
She instituted a rule of StarClan. Finally, those heretics could be dealt with. After a while, Quietsight began helping! Until he got caught, and Siltstar exiled him, when he got overzealous. But it wasn't enough.
StarClan condemned her relationship with Firefeather, and said that she had murdered so many cats in cold blood already.
She helped Redtree, a useful idiot, kill Firefeather.
She already had an apprentice, Pearpaw, who could easily be helped.
Siltstar hardly paid any attention when Redtree and Orangefluff--honestly, who names a cat Orangefluff?
She was sick, so Quietsight was the one who did the ceremony, as her deputy. And what ended up happening? She was infected by a disease. A one in a million chance. It destroyed her body, and left her dead.
As she believed in StarClan, they sent her to where she belonged.

Cautionary Tale: N/A
Story:
Firekit was always a curious cat. Always wondering and wandering.
When she was apprenticed as a medicine cat, this did not fade. But the target changed. What would happen if a corpse was covered in salt? Would gulls get sick if they ate a rotting corpse?
Was the death of someone that was increasingly annoying to your crush a good way to ask them out?
When Siltstar killed her, she ended up in Limbo. All skin and bones, as the evil cats who go there are. But it was one day she discovered part of the fog that was darker.
Exploring it, she found her home. A place where she didn't need to starve.

The differences of Siltstar and Firefeather VS Alderstar and Myrtlewing are so funny to me. YOU’RE RIGHT
Dayclan. The Proficient and Kind. Randomly generated clan drawing challenge.
Dayclan lives in a territory of sunny hills, their camp in a slightly more flat area surrounded by some small hills, they dig their dens out of the hills and the ground with a large rock being where the leader Rookstar speaks to the clan, the leaders den is dug in a spot just behind said rock, their nests are made from grass that is put together in a kind of woven pattern, and they hunt mostly rabbits and mice though they'll also sometimes catch birds that come into their territory.
The reason that there is so few is actually because they are recovering from a pandemic. A greencough pandemic that nearly took out the entire clan. They just recently got rid of the greencough in their clan. So they're trying to remain as a strong clan despite what had just happened.
Now let us meet those that remain in Dayclan.
The leader is Rookstar. A black spotted tabby tom with short fur and hazel eyes. Rookstar is actually a transgender character. Being born a female but feeling as though being a tom is what's right for him. This actually ended up happening because as I was drawing him I kept referring to him in my head as female. So I got the idea that he would be a she-cat who is a trans tom. Rookstar is kind and tries to keep the spirits of the cats he leads up. He has six lives left after his seventh was taken by Greencough. He had caught it when he was trying to help his sick clanmates. He doesn't care that he lost a life to sickness. He was helping his clan and that's all he cared about. His other two lives that he has so far lost we're lost to a rogue battle to help save Nightpaw, who we will get to, and the other from losing too much blood trying to drive away a badger, as he ignored his wounds till he collapsed. He vows to continue to be a strong leader until he finally joins Starclan.
The deputy is Rookstars brother from a litter from their parents before Rookstars birth, named Slugtail. He was born without a tail. He is a long haired black tom with amber eyes, which I've always seen as an orange color so my first instinct to color it was orange. He is a stern and to an extent grumpy tom. He's seen plenty of battles with scars to show for it. He is strict with both warriors and apprentices. He is actually starting to grow close to retiring to the elders den. He doesn't look forward to it and is trying to stay out of the elders den for as long as possible. He has what's considered to be his final apprentice Thymepaw who will come up later. He was actually looked up to by Rookstar so when Rookstar became leader Slugtail was appointed deputy. He is seen as a cat who can manage the clan quite well despite his attitude. He does have a mate who died in the greencough pandemic. His only child is Starlingpaw who you'll meet later. He does show care for his child though is also still strict with said child. He wants Starlingpaw to be strong yet still know that he cares about the other.
The medicine cat is Sootberry with an apprentice Nightpaw who will be in the apprentice section later. She is a short haired black she-cat with hazel eyes. She was born in the same litter as Rookstar. She always knew that she'd be a medicine cat. She has a kind and gentle personality. She is seen as one of the biggest sweethearts of the clan. She works hard as a medicine cat and takes great pride in what she does. She stayed as positive as she could even during the pandemic. She was gifted the berries with leaves by her mentor who passed away before the greencough pandemic. She wears them with pride ever since as a reminder of the cat who taught her to help her clan. She does her best to teach her apprentice Nightpaw without anger, even if Nightpaw gets something wrong. She wants Nightpaw's training to be a good experience for the young cat.
The first warrior on the list is Cootblaze. A black tom with short fur, and amber eyes. He is another grumpy cat that is from the same litter as Slugtail. He is actually looking forward to when he can retire to the elders den. He's already become good friends with the last remaining elder left in that den. He likes to talk about having seen enough of the warrior life throughout his years. So as soon as he becomes of age he plans to go straight to the elders den. His attitude is grumpy in a kind of just done with life way. He does care for his family though. He has an apprentice by the name of Ashpaw who will be covered later. He does so his best to be a good mentor despite just being done with everything.
The next Warrior is Appleear. A short haired cream classic pseudo-tabby tom with copper eyes. I've never heard of a pseudo-tabby before. So after googling I went with a design inspired by an artwork I found labeled as a pseudo-tabby. He is actually the youngest warrior in the clan. He was made into a warrior a little early to help with the number of warriors left after the pandemic. He is a happy go lucky laid back warrior. He'll do his duties while not losing the way he acts. He is actually a good warrior despite being made one slightly early. He has a younger sister named Fennelpaw who will be discussed later. His father died from an attack by a fox that had been passing through, and his mother taken by the greencough pandemic. He tries to help brighten others days as much as he can. Finding some joy in it even if he only gets a small smile. He is such a new warrior though that he has no apprentice.
Next up is the warrior Willownose, the mother to Thymepaw and Ashpaw. She is a blue she-cat with short fur and amber eyes. She lost her mate to a twoleg who shot the tom as the two tried to catch the same bird, not noticing the other. She was in the nursery with their kits when it happened. She did her best to raise them as well as she could. She loves them dearly and watches with pride everyday as they work and grow to become warriors. She is sweet though reserved. Whenever shes not doing her warrior duties there's three things she could be doing. She either is visiting to help the current queens wherever she can, relaxing even grooming herself usually in a sunny spot, or she can be found checking in on her kits even during training. Her kits just mean so much to her. She has the apprentice Starlingpaw. She tries to make everyday a good day for the apprentice even if the other is cranky. She does her best to not take any mean words from anyone to heart. She prefers to try to brush the words off.
The final currently left warrior is Rowanthroat. A short haired, red spotted pseudo-tabby and amber eyes. She lost her mate to the pandemic before they could have kits. She inherited her mates apprentice Fennelpaw after her mates death. She has become depressed from losing her mate. Though she does still do her duties as a mentor the best she can. She wants for her mate to be proud of how well Fennelpaw becomes as a warrior. She is usually moping around camp during her free time. She's also distant from other clan members due to her depression. Her clan has tried to help her though so far it hasn't worked. Her mate meant too much to her and she didn't even get to have kits with him.
Starting off with apprentices is Starlingpaw. A short haired black tom with copper eyes. He is mentored to Willownose. His father being deputy Slugtail. His first ever catch was a bird so he took some feathers to put in his tail in pride. Honestly though I only added it because of the clipboard slipping causing me to draw an extra line in sharpie. I had to figure out something so I went with that. This was before the backgrounds were decided on. He is a bit grumpy and tries to be seen as strong emotionally and physically. He strives to be the best warrior the clan has ever know. Wanting to make his father proud. Though unfortunately his grumpy attitude does lead him to say some nasty things. He doesn't really care if he hurts others feelings. He prefers to be seen as strong, in the way he thinks strong is which is a bit of a bully way, than to be worrying about others feelings. He was given to Willownose in the hopes that she could help him be nicer to his clanmates.
Next up is Nightpaw the medicine cat apprentice. She is a short haired black classic tabby she-cat with copper eyes. She has a happy attitude in life despite what she had gone through as a kit. She wandered out of the camp and came across a rogue who attacked her. She was saved and managed to live through it. Her one eye is blind from the damage it took. She was apprenticed in the middle of the pandemic. And though before the incident she wanted to be a warrior, well after she was attacked she wanted nothing more than to be a medicine cat. She did visit Starclan for awhile when she was attacked as she almost died. She loved interacting with them plus was fascinated by the herbs healing abilities. So she changed her plans to become a medicine cat. She even put some leaves she found in her fur to show her dedication to it. She is kind and very helpful. She even comforted her own mother who died just after she was apprenticed. Her father lost on a border line dispute fight when she was in her mothers womb. So she never met him. She is a hard worker and prefers to try to wake up every day happy. She accepts even deaths as Starclans will. Even if she is saddened by them. She used to be friends with Thymepaw before they become apprentices, however they drifted apart after she picked to be a medicine cat. She does still treat him nicely though.
The next apprentice on the list is Thymepaw. He is mentored by Slugtail. He is a short haired blue tom with yellow eyes. He actually has a lot of self doubt and ponders his life. This is because he loved Nightpaw when they were kits. He wanted to become mates with her when they became warriors. He found out that she was going to become a medicine cat when they were made into apprentices. He knew that meant that they couldn't be mates. He was devastated and distanced himself from Nightpaw. He doubts himself wondering if his life and love actually meant anything. If he's not that great of a cat if Nightpaw would turn her back to him. He didn't even let her explain however as he just let them grow apart. His mentor tries to help him with his doubts about himself. The clan hoping Slugtail can give Thymepaw the confidence he had lost. He is a bit of a quiet cat due to his doubt. He isn't really friends with the other apprentices. He does support his sister Ashpaw, though does have preferences to be alone. Feeling like his life was snatched from him so now he isn't sure what to do. He just does his training for now while he tries to refigure out his life.
Next up is Fennelpaw the younger sister to Appleear. Also mentored by Rowanthroat. She is a cream classic pseudo-tabby she-cat with short fur and copper eyes. She is happy go lucky. She tries to find some reason to be happy each day. Even if it's a small reason. She is not as laid back as her brother though. She actually talked to Rookstar about her feelings for Ashpaw despite them both being girls. She found confidence in his encouragement and is proud to let herself be known as into girls. She tries to hang out with Ashpaw a bunch in the hopes that the other feels the same way. Though she hasn't actually told Ashpaw her feelings yet. She plans to wait until they are Warriors before she tells her friend anything. Even though she does hint at it since she likes Ashpaw so much she can hardly contain herself. She also enjoys playing with her brother who is all too happy to play with her. She is close to her sibling.
The final apprentice is Ashpaw. Sister to Thymepaw and daughter of Willownose. Mentored by Cootblaze. She is a little sassy and tends to think a little highly of herself. She works very hard to learn as much as she can on her path to becoming a warrior. She is in competition with Starlingpaw in becoming the best warrior. She does crush on Fennelpaw however is in denial of her true feelings and sexuality. She keeps trying to convince herself and others that she likes toms. Deep down inside however she is actually into girls like Fennelpaw. She lets the other hang around as her friend because a part of her wants to keep the other close. She is the nicest to her family and Fennelpaw compared to other clanmates.
The first queen on the list is Asphodeltail and her kit Shadowkit. I ended up giving her a kit because I didn't want all the queens to just be pregnant, I got the name from a random generator as the first one to pop up. Then I picked out that he'd be a brown tabby tom with black stripes and blue eyes. While Asphodeltail is a red she-cat with short fur and green eyes. Asphodeltail lost her mate who beat the greencough he caught, only to be killed when he tried to chase a plump rabbit for his mate into its tunnel that collapsed on him. She sees her mate so much in her kit that she had after he was gone. She is very loving as her kit is her last piece of her mate she has. She will love her kit no matter what. She is known to also be rather kind and her kit is her reason to continue each day. Shadowkit is still very young but he loves his mother very much. He is also very attached to her as he prefers to not separate from her.
The next queen is Crowpelt. A black she-cat with long fur and amber eyes. She lost her mate but not in that he died. Her mate left the clan to become a loner when the pandemic hit, as he decided that there'd be no clan left. She was in early stages of pregnancy and wanted her kits to be born to her clan. So she was left heartbroken as her mate left without her. She tries her best to keep going for her kits. Every night she looks to the sky praying to Starclan that her mate comes home. She doesn't actually know that her mate has moved on to become mates with a kittypet just a little ways past the border, just far enough that it isn't easy to see with the kittypets twoleg fence helping block it. She still holds hope that one day her mate will return. Even though she hasn't seen him since and he truly has no plans to return. She looks to the sky a lot because she hopes that Starclan will bring her mate back to her one day. In the meantime she waits for her kits to be born which will actually be very soon. She is due any day so she'll soon have her kits.
The last queen is Heatherwhisker. She is in the middle of her pregnancy. She is a short haired cream she-cat with gold eyes. Her mate is actually a loner but no one knows this yet. She is very much on a high horse so to speak. She thinks herself as better than any other cats in her clan. She isn't shy to show that she looks down on others. She is seen as stuckup because of it. She also always has to mention that she does believe her kits will be the best. In both looks and abilities. She holds her head high at all times. Though she isn't the brightest in the clan honestly. She can't wait for the clan to be in awe of her and her kits. She is the least popular queen and cat in the clan. But she doesn't care.
Finally the last elder left alive, his name is Blackheart. He is a curly haired black classic tabby tom with hazel eyes. When I drew him originally I forgot he had curly fur so I added some curly fur afterwards. He is actually Nightpaw's grandfather. He is rather old with the fur on the bottom of his muzzle being more grey than black. He watched the other elders die of Greencough but managed to not catch it. He enjoys relaxing and telling stories to youngsters or anyone who will listen. He isn't sure if he'll be alive to see anyone else join the elders den. He goes by day by day waiting for one day to be his last. He is usually seen as calm. Neither truly happy nor sad. He is a good cat and elder who everyday takes a step closer to joining Starclan. He's nice to his clanmates even any rude ones. He is actually respected by almost all of the clan. He'll even be turned to by Rookstar for advice.
You don’t know where you’re going as you find yourself on a dark and gloomy island. In the center sits a stone, charred on top; from what, you don’t know.
You smell approaching cats and quickly hide amongst what undergrowth is left, which isn’t much. Five groups of cats soon gather; you can hear them talking amongst themselves and with the other groups, but you can’t tell what. It’s then that a bright-furred she-cat jumps on the rock.
She shares news about her group; from what you can tell, it’s called DayClan, and they share borders with another group, BrushClan, which is also their ally, or so it seems.
It doesn’t take long for her to finish and for a dark-furred tom to take her place on the rock, sharing news about his group, PineClan, which shares borders with their rival, MapleClan.
After him, another bright-furred she-cat jumps on the rock, this one with many different colors, much like leaf-fall leaves. She shares news of MapleClan, much of which seems to entail PineClan, just like the latter Clan’s.
She finishes and another bright-furred cat takes her place, sharing BrushClan’s news, mainly of their flowers’ blooms. Seems silly, but it’s up to them, you think.
Lastly, a tom who looks tired and is dark-furred shares the news of the Tribe of Darkening Shadows, that lives in the same forest as PineClan. He finishes and the cats look ready to leave, until...
“Wait, I smell something strange,” someone meows, “a cat, it seems. A rogue, I’d assume.”
DayClan and BrushClan’s leaders ask for more information, and the cat nods in your direction. You freeze up as they approach.
“Don’t be afraid, young one,” BrushClan’s leader mews, “we won’t harm you. Would you like to join a Clan?”
You pause. But then, you nod.
“Well then, I’ll tell you of the Clans,” DayClan’s leader volunteers.
DayClan
DayClan is generous yet timid. Founded by a stray named Aster many seasons ago, her friend Day told her of the Clans who lived far from here long, long ago while on his deathbed. In her memory, she founded a Clan, named after him, spawning DayClan: receiving her nine lives from SpiritClan, Day himself gave her her leader name of Asterstar. We are allies with BrushClan, who split off from us, and are overall peaceful towards all the Clans, though when necessary, we strike.
PineClan and MapleClan
PineClan is irritable and stoic, the opposite of their neighbor and rival, the spirited and persevering MapleClan. Founded by the siblings Bark and Red, who found themselves in conflict when a cat from each of their groups vanished without a trace in the night. They blamed each other, and a fight broke out. Until the two were found, with two kits, who took after their parents, named for the Clan said parent didn’t dwell in. They were brought to the opposite of their namesake and appointed deputy once Asterstar taught them about the Clans of long ago.
BrushClan
BrushClan is composed and brave. After a conflict with her friend, Brushfire, kittypet turned DayClan warrior Hydrangeablaze left, some coming with them. She received nine lives and named her Clan after her friend, hoping for forgiveness. Brushfire discovered the Clan right when the now Hydrangeastar was looking for a deputy, and the two were united, Brushfire becoming the Clan’s deputy. Their kits live on in BrushClan today.
The Tribe of Darkening Shadows
I’ll allow a Tribe cat to tell this part; Sunwatcher, if you may?
Certainly. Negative and cautious, we are. A kittypet once looked onwards towards the mountains. From the cats who lived in the same neighborhood as him, he heard tales. Of a group of cats who lived in the mountains. A Tribe, he believed they were called. A message repeated in his dreams on the day he listened to the tales. Where the sun rises, make a new home in the brightest light of all. He did as the message said. Or, attempted too, but the journey proved treacherous and he had to give up. He settled in a pine forest, made acquaintance with some of the cats who lived there as strays, and made a home, naming it in honor of the Tribe. The Tribe of Darkening Shadows, he called it. And then, one day, in his dreams, a cat walked with him. Half Moon, she said she was called at birth. The Teller of Pointed Stones, she said she was called for her life with the Tribe. She told him of the Tribe - their traditions in ancient times and modern times. Base your Tribe on ours, she said, someday you'll diverge. So he did. He told the few cats who lived in his group of the Tribe's traditions. Some had heard stories of it, some had not. But those who did were excited of the idea. Some, however... were not. Why only eat once a day, they said. Why not have three meals a day, they said. A battle waged. The "Tribe" won. However, he felt like he'd let Half Moon, the Teller of Pointed Stones, the Tribe that had lived long ago, down. While exploring, he discovered a cave, abandoned by its inhabitants. He did not know what to call it, until Half Moon, the Teller of Pointed Stones, talked to him, and said the following words: You have not let me down, young one. From this moment on, you will be known as the Watcher of the Shining Sun. Sunwatcher. Others will come after you, moon upon moon upon moon. Choose them well, train them well, and trust the future of your Tribe to them. And then she vanished.
“You didn’t need to tell them all of it,” the DayClan leader sighed. Sunwatcher shrugged, turning to you.
“Well, young one, what do you choose?”
It’s up for you to decide...
Join here, if the stars line up so.
At long last….
DayClan!
feel free to ask me any questions about them!!!
