What we love: beginning a long journey. Today is the Day of German Unity 🇩🇪. Originally the German reunification should be celebrated. But lately there are increasing signs that we are far from being a unified country. To be a united country, we should better know who we are. In fact, we argue who is German and who is not. Many look into the past and have in mind an idea of the German, which was quite popular 80 years ago. But now Germany has changed. Around a fifth of the population now has a so-called migration background. They are new Germans and belong to this country, like everyone else. And for 28 years, Germans from the West and East have been trying to form one family. Just to recognize today that there are still unspoken differences that separate us, rather than unite. The only proper way for us will be to look ahead and wonder who we Germans want to be in the future. To believe that there is already THE „true“ German is naive. And until all of us understand that, we still have a long journey ahead of us. . #whatwelove #waswirlieben #longjourneyahead #tagderdeutscheneinheit #dayofgermanunity #unity #germany #whoisgerman https://www.instagram.com/p/BofWd1PhC2H/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1l2gw77v4fs4j
