I've always been a terrible writer, but here's my take on the newest album by one of my favorite bands of all time: Days N Daze
show me the blueprints by days n daze is one of the realest dives into the lives of people who are attempting to live a life of sobriety after a lifetime of substance abuse, where instead of turning to drugs when entering a depressive episode they're forced power through, which leads them to some of the most incredibly clear and well thought out reflections on topics that they've ever written, topics such as their current state of being or their past mistakes. the entire album can be summed up as an incredibly poetic deliberation on the path to a sober life, but even that doesn't do it justice.
the themes of childish dreams far out of reach, the hopelessness that everybody eventually feels in life, the past experience and current fear of losing loved ones, the total realization of the inevitability of leaving this world, and most importantly of all a pseudocynical hope for a future not where problems don't exist, but are instead at least manageable, are all too relatable and work to make this entire album a sobering self reflection on the human experience.
If you're able to get passed the folk punk style that days n daze presents, i cannot recommend this album enough. not only to listen to, but to experience fully by giving it a listen a second time through while reading along with each individual songs thought provoking lyrics.
(this is my first time doing something like this but it's about something I'm passionate about so I wasn't too focused on the quality and moreso on just getting my thoughts on the album out after listening to it for the nth time, so sorry if the sentence flow is trash!)
So swallow a bullet! Or a handful of pills!
We're all compost in training, there's graves left to fill!
Megan Michelle is such a cutie and I love her and I’m very bisexual for her
We're all compost in training
And there's graves left to fill
Distract ourselves to make us feel like we're not just mistakes
