Going dark

“Kya?! Are you there?!” Lin shouted, curling up with pain. Both of her legs were crushed by a giant piece of metal. She tried to bend it away but it was too heavy. “Kya!”
“I’m here!”
“Oh, thank spirits,” Lin sighed with relief. Kya was alright.
Everything was dark, she couldn’t tell where she was.
“I can’t move! My legs are stuck!”
“Keep talking, I’ll try to find you!” Lin tried to cut herself free. She screamed when the metal fell down.
“Lin!”
“I’m okay! Just keep moving!”
She hit the floor with her hand with hope that she’ll sense where Kya is. But once she tried, she couldn’t notice anything but the large remains of the collapsed building.
“I can’t see a thing! It is too dark!”
“You are coming closer,” she shouted.
“Lin! Are you there?”
“Kya!”
The waterbender touched her shoulders and embraced. Lin hissed with pain, Kya immediately released her from a tight hug.
“What happened to you?”
“My legs are crushed. Listen to me, I’ll move the metal but you’ll have to pull me out of there.”
“Got it,” Kya swallowed and took a deep breath. When she heard her command she moved her, besides the painful groan she’d heard. Once they did it, they heard clanking of metal and falling rocks. “We need to move but I don’t have any water.”
“First, we need to find out on which side of the building we were. Then we should try to make it to the nearest window, if we find broken glass there is a chance that…”
“Can you walk?”
Lin denied.
“I need to carry you.”
“Kya, I don’t think this is a good idea. I will only slow you down. You have to go alone.”
“I won’t leave you there! How could you even think like this!” Kya was truly angry. “I will carry you out of this place no matter what!”
She lifted her, Lin gritted her teeth.
They were slow, the fallen walls, ceilings and furniture were creaking as the building was steadily collapsing.
They’ve seen a steam of light and sighed with relief. Lin carefully made a hole in the wall which led them to the fresh air.
“I’ll bring help. Wait there, I’ll be back soon.”
Kya kissed her and got out. She ran to the nearest team of rescuers but as soon as she reached them, she heard a loud crash.
And a scream.
The building collapsed entirely.
