비
You didn't think the rain would come so quickly, let alone this harsh. While you were grocery shopping, the rain suddenly started. Instead of rushing home, you opted to wait it out beneath the little hut of a bus stop. Your jacket was drenched and your hair completely wet, leaving you dripping on the dry concrete below the canopy.
Cold crept into your bones, teeth clattering and shaking quite hard. Today just wasn't your day, apparently.
Right as you were about to call one of your friends, your phone died. "Fuck!" You yell in frustration, angrily stuffing the device back into your pants pocket. Angry tears were pricking at your eyes and it only drove you madder.
Why did you have to be such a baby? It was just a little rain. It was just your stupidity to not bring an umbrella. And it was just your stupidity to not charge your phone.
Now you were facing the consequences of your actions, very certain you'd be catching a cold and laying in bed, sick, for at least a week.
"Fucking bullshit… stupid fucking weather, annoying dumb brain…" You were cursing under your breath, exhaling harshly and then taking a deep breath afterwards to calm your nerves.
It felt like you might explode if you didn't take a breather and shift down a gear.
Then another realization hit you. This bus stop was quite far from your home and the grocery store. In your frantic state to quickly find shelter, you completely lost orientation and went off route.
"I'm such a goddamn dumbass, oh my fucking Jesus…"
"Excuse me?" A male voice interrupted your conflict with yourself. You look at the stranger with big eyes before quickly bowing your head in shame and apologizing profusely for your profanity.
"Don't worry about it" The man chuckles and dismissively waves his hand. "You look cold though, how long have you been standing here for?"
Just now you realize once again how hard you're shaking and that the clattering of your teeth is quite obnoxious. "Uh- I don't know… My phone kinda died" You manage without stuttering, willing your jaw to halt its rapid movements.
"Come stand under my umbrella. I'll take you home" The man says and gestures for you to come closer. "Is your place far away?"
"It's a bit away, not too far but not very close either" You mumble while awkwardly standing in front of him, arms crossed in front of your chest.
He rubs his neck before shyly replying. "Well uhm… If you don't have a problem with it, I could walk you home..?" The end turns more into a question and you show the stranger a soft but grateful smile. He just doesn't seem intimidating at all, besides being tall as fuck.
"You seem trustworthy" is your reply and he gives a shy grin before pulling you under his giant umbrella.
"You can hold onto my arm if you want. Wouldn't want you to get any more wet than you are right now"
Feeling a wave of heat rush up your neck, you nod quickly before slipping your hand to the inside of his arm to hold onto the crook of his arm.
You guide the way towards your apartment complex in a comfortable silence, but somehow it feels a bit awkward to you. "I-I'm Y/N by the way" You speak and look up at the tall, handsome stranger.
A flash of realization speeds across his face before he gives a nervous laugh. "My name is Younghoon, I'm so sorry for not introducing myself earlier!"
At that, a laugh rips through the otherwise silent street. The only other sound audible is the pitter patter of heavy raindrops hitting Younghoon's umbrella and the concrete around you. It creates a sound comparable to the rushing of wild water.
He feels himself smile involuntarily at your laugh, finding it absolutely lovely.
Your apartment complex soon comes into view and he follows you until you're both shielded from the heavy rain. "Do you… Want to come in? Until the rain stops?"
Younghoon smiles cutely at your offer. "If it doesn't trouble you too much then who am I to say no?"
With a bashful smile you open the door to the Entrance hall, holding it open for him to follow. You lead the way to your apartment, unlock the door and get out of your shoes.
Younghoon follows your example and you take his umbrella from his hand to put it into a container specifically made for them. As you start to take off your jacket, you realize that the zipper is jammed and that the piece of clothing is clinging onto you like glue.
He seems to notice and chuckles before gently prying your hands away to take care of your zipper for you. "There you go"
"Oh- Thank you…"
He smiles again and also takes off his coat.
"You can just hang it on any hook by the door" You say and point to the board littered with hooks. "I'm gonna take a warm shower real quick. I'm not too keen on catching a cold"
"Of course!" He quickly nods in understanding after he hangs his jacket up.
"The living room is the right room by the end of the hallway, just make yourself at home"
"Thank you…" He shyly mumbles, giving a quick and bashful bow before entering said room.
You make quick work of yourself, rushing to fetch new clothes before jumping into said warm shower. It feels good to wash away the biting cold of the rain, your body tingling with the newly returned heat.
After you got dressed and towel dried your hair for the most part, you went into the living room. Younghoon is sitting on your couch and typing away on his phone, so you take the free minute to fully take in how handsome he actually looks. The curve of his nose to the way he slightly pouted his lips while thinking of what to reply.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer" He jokes and a playful smirk makes an appearance on his face, leaving you flustered.
"I- I wasn't staring!" You're quick to defend yourself albeit knowing it's useless since he must've felt the way your eyes bore into him. Younghoon chuckles and puts his phone aside and meets your gaze with a playful glint in his eyes.
"Sure" He says with a teasing, underlying tone. "Anyway, I took a look at the weather report for tonight and it doesn't look like the rain will stop before tomorrow"
You sigh at the news. "I was hoping it wouldn't rain until tomorrow, but looks like my intuition was right after all"
A breathy chuckle erupts from Younghoon's throat. "Don't worry, I'll get going soon. The rain won't be this harsh for the next hour"
"Okay" You nod and sit down next to him. "Uhm… Thanks again for taking me home"
"It's no big deal" He grins. "I'm glad I was able to help"
—
Around an hour later, Younghoon decides to take his leave.
"Thanks for letting me stay a while" He smiles and grabs his umbrella. "I'll get going now"
"Uh… Would you-"
"Give you my number? Sure"
You splutter, feeling your face grow hot at the way he saw right through you.
He snickers and hands his phone to you, his number on display.
You quickly punch in his number and save his contact, all while feeling like you might light afire.
"I'll look forward to hearing from you" Younghoon says with a big smile before bowing his head and turning around to leave. "Talk later~"
And then he's out of your apartment. You're still a bit stunned, but a whipped smile pulls at your lips. "I'm looking forward to it, too…"
