Spoilers (sorta) for DBS 53
So, Piccolo's the new Yamcha, I guess (as in a Jobber). Seriously, Toya?
I was already extremely pissed off with the Piccolo thing from the last chapter. For Piccolo to fall for such an OBVIOUS excuse and let the bad guys go is absolutely inexcusable.
But then! Then you go and have him once again give the villains an upper hand by letting himself get distracted. Like, honestly, I could've let that one go were it not for him JUST making a stupid, asinine, completely out of character mistake and his response to it. "Yeah. I did just let him..." Like the fuck?!
THEN things just keep getting worse with him losing to basically himself. He says "I have to fight him like I fight myself" and then immediately lose....and badly...to attacks that are only as powerful as he is.
Piccolo literally trains with himself ALL the fucking time using his multi-form technique! He by all accounts should be USED to this type of fight, if nothing else! The only wildcard is the infinite energy.
Piccolo is a tactical fighter, a cynic, and one of the most intelligent characters on the show. One of these by itself would've been hard to swallow, but all together is just making him look dumb and inexperienced, and is so completely out of character that I seriously want to break my own teeth at how bad it is!
This is what I've been saying about Super from the beginning; the dumbing down of characters. Ever since the show started, the characters have been making stupid mistakes and missing obvious things until Goten and Whis explains it to them. And you could somewhat get away with it with characters like Goku and Vegeta (which I still say is OOC), but characters like Gohan and Piccolo whose defining characteristic is their intelligence, it's just annoying and makes the series harder to bare. The characters are smart or dumb as the plot demands it and I'm sorry, it's shitty writing.
I'm hate to say it, but Toya/Tori's grasp on these characters is seriously lacking, but I still say this Piccolo deal is the worst because even casual fans know that he's the "smart one".
Dragon Ball super 53:
Zamasu is Black Goku but how did he fused with goku is still a mystery.
I really like Zamasu as a villan, I sympathise with him. Having to watch a bunch of crazy and cruel race like humans killing each other and not being able to do anything must be tough. He seems like a proud guy driven by his sense of justice.
I can foresee his redemption though. The present Zamasu is not bad yet, he’s just cynical and nonconformist. And Black, he did terrible things but so did 18 and she’s good now.
Talking of which, it was nice to see 18 and Trunks little reunion. His reaction was pretty much expected but, in the end, he was happy that things turned down the way they did for both Krilin and 18.
Next episode seems like a good one: daddy and son time!
