All the characters are framed as "the good guys," even though they're on opposing sides.

Hello and welcome to DDM!!

It's a fic that's gonna start out reasonably chill, but as you may have guessed from the trigger warnings, it will spiral.

First off, I want to say that, although I've done some research, this story will NOT be fully accurate to the characters. I have done some slight modification of some characters and/or relationships, since most of this is just me having fun with my imagination. Smaller things like the Blue Sword Boys will not be present, and some canon events may not take place in the canon order (ex. Dare To Flare doesn't take place immediately before the beginning of the Red Winter).

Then, we have the worldbuilding. Feel free to skip this part, as it will be boring, but I'd just like to say this outright because why not.

There are four species of players:

Humans, who can have strange hair, eyes, or skin, are more or less normal. Hybrids are humans with animal features (ex. ears, tail, antennae, etc.) They can be from a made-up creature or a real one. Avians are similar to hybrids, but they have a slightly different molecular structure and all that crap. They're humans with wings on their backs and/or behind their ears. Shapeshifters are humans that can change their features (ex. hair, ears, wings, etc.) Some shifters can only shift in certain environments or due to certain emotions. Others have full rein over what they can become.

I'll state the species of each character as I write.
