Another "Everything Has A Price" 'verse comm by Marypop, the first since her return ❤️
Talia may have- well, she didn't birth them, she created them using hers and Bruce's DNA... but those are Tim's clone babies, okay?
Tim saw those vats, and was presented with Talia's "abomination", and immediately knew he was going to give them all an actual life.
Jason wasn't immediately attached- more distraught and concerned than anything for a while until they had actual personalities and grew on him, but he'd at least been in agreement on them deserving to live.
But wrangling twenty five "Damians", all developing their own distinct personalities is far from easy, especially with Ra's insistence they be trained and utilized at the very least as his personal guard.
Most of the League can't tell them apart- they don't pay enough attention to know their differences, but these four are hard to miss with their visual differences.
The medical files attached to Talia's "projects" presented an especially distressing level of body horror... He wondered if Damian himself was even aware of just how many times he'd really had parts of himself exchanged when injured.
"Zey" had his right eye removed, utilized before Damian had even come to Gotham. Training incident stated in the charting, fault not Damian's own. There hadn't been any eyes to utilize for him, and so Tim had the prosthetic crafted especially for him. It had been more difficult than the others, given the direct brain connectivity, had involved more specialists lurking in the back corners of the medical world.
"Omi" had been in a disturbing state. His left arm had not been removed, so much as it had been dissected, with nerves and tendons removed for utilization. It had been the lesser evil to have the useless limb amputated, and the medical team craft him a new one before waking. The difficulty lay in that he would need to have the shoulder hardware altered every so often as he grew, which would not be free of discomfort. However, Tim stressed from early on that should it become too much, he was free to decide to opt out of further adjustment. (Omi just scoffs and rolls his eyes)
"Del" had been missing his left leg entirely, it having been removed just above the knee. Apparently utilized for the musculature and skin grafting rather than as a whole. His prosthesis was advanced, but not particularly invasive as the removal site had already long been healed, and would just need to be swapped out with any significant growth spurts.
"Hare" was the unique case... Talia had called him Heretic. He had been artificially aged up by horrific methods, and yet she hadn't deemed it necessary to do the same with his mind. He had already been awake- manipulated by her, by the time he had been brought before him. It wasn't easy undoing the damage Talia had caused. The sense of purpose ingrained in him. The intense loyalty, despite her disregard, the desperate need to please her... the overwhelming jealousy. He might have had the body of an adult, but his mind was years younger than Damian's own. The only positive was that once given the hands on attention and care, he came around nicely, even if it wasn't Talia's attention he was receiving. It had been a process getting him used to being one of two dozen, but being treated as the individual that he was worked wonders, and he seemed particularly fond of Jason's company. Tim refused to call him "Heretic". Officially his file stated "Herald" these days, but like the other boys he favored the shortened call name.
