birch, dc mall.
went to this new-ish cafe with friends from brunch last month, because we all wanted to try their burnt cheesecake. normally, the cafe would seem to be crowded but not on the day we went, though i also made reservations to secure our table.
before going to dessert, i decided to order the birch benedict for my main meal, as it seems to be one of the signature. we spent really really long before coming to a decision, because there’s no photos on the menu lol.. it was very hard.
this was a good choice, the pulled chicken is really good, poached egg is done really well and the sauce is just nice, not overpowering. the vegetables and fruits garnish is very photogenic too ehehe..
also ordered the brulee french toast to share, together with the burnt cheesecake, and it was surprisingly good. cheesecake is also yummy with smooth texture, not overly heavy or cheesy at all. we enjoyed the desserts very much.
the cafe ambiance is really awesome, especially if you are seated near the windows, the natural lighting is awesome, and the desserts are recommended. service is kinda slow though, because there’s only one or two staff running around.
