Only one month left until the beginning of Brutalia Week! If you’re planning on making something, I’d recommend starting soon!

Just make sure to read the rules, and use the FAQ and ask box to get all your questions sorted out, but then you’re good to go!

When it’s posting time, make #brutaliaweek2020 one of the first five tags, mention @brutalia-week​ in the post if you want to make extra sure I see it, or add it to the Brutalia Week 2021 collection on AO3.

Before posting time, though, I have a brutalia discord server that can be helpful if you want to get into the mood or the week! It even has a special channel for brutalia week.

But most important of all, just have fun!

Brutalia Week starts tomorrow!

Make sure to finish up any last-minute editing, and get your works ready, or even on your queue!

If you need a reminder on prompts or other details, you can either look at the about page, or look at the pinned post.

Because of Brutalia Week being so soon upon us, the following has happened:

-A Tag Masterlist/Navigation Page has been created. Right now, most of the links probably won’t work, but that’s only because we don’t have any content yet. I’ll make sure they start working once we get our first flow of content.

-The Ao3 Collection has been opened. Now, you are officially allowed to start adding your first pieces of content.

I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! Have fun!

Thank you so much for all your responses in the interest form! After getting 26 responses, I came to my decision that Brutalia week (not just a weekend) will definitely be happening! It may be small this year, but we can still have fun with it! (Click here to see the results of the interest form.)

Now, it’s time to start setting this week up! Both the prompts and dates haven’t been decided, so I’m giving all of you guys a chance to submit your own ideas of what they could be.

Use the form above if you have a prompt idea and/or a date idea. Soon, the prompts and dates will be put into another form, where you’ll be able to vote on which ones are your favorite.

But when submitting prompt ideas, make sure your prompt...

-Makes sense/is mostly self-explanatory (or could be explained by a quick google search)

-Won’t make some creators uncomfortable with the idea of making something for it (Nothing NSFW-based, and try to be mindful of major trigger warnings!)

-Isn’t too specific or long/is open to a fair amount of possibility

When submitting date ideas, make sure the week...

-Is in 2021, not 2022

-Isn’t in the past, or less than 2 weeks in the future (and be careful with anything that’s less than a month in the future, because even those have a chance of getting denied later on)

Minimums/Maximums: For prompts, you have to vote for at least 4, and can not vote for more than 74 (in other words, you just can’t vote for all of them). For dates, you can vote for up to 2.

Something to Keep in Mind for Prompt-Voting: Prompts are in alphabetical order. If there’s specific prompt you’re looking for, you can just look to see where it should be in the alphabet!

Something to Keep in Mind for Date-Voting: The farther away it is, the more time there is to advertise, and the more people who are going to feel like they have enough time to get ready. If you want there to be plenty of works, don’t select one that’s right away.

Prompt/Date not showing up?: If a prompt or date you submitted isn’t on the voting form, feel free to dm me (or send an ask) to find out why. (I apologize if the reason I rejected your thing wasn’t explicitly stated ahead of time. Also, please note that anything before May 30th had to be rejected so we had enough time for set-up.)

As of today, Brutalia Week is officially over!

Thank you so much to all the participants! Overall, we got a total of 23 works for the week.

At this point, all works posted on tumblr (excluding last submissions) should have been reblogged. If yours hasn’t been reblogged, feel free to send this blog a message to let us know!

Wanted to participate, but didn’t get a work done in time?

Late submission will still be accepted up to 7 months after the week! The Ao3 collection will be open for the rest of the month, but even once August comes around, you can still DM this blog (or send an ask, whatever works!) to invite your work to the collection manually. If you’re simply looking to post it to tumblr, on the other hand, all we ask is that you @ this blog to make sure we see your post.

Already wondering about next year?

Unless something drastic happens, we’re completely planning on continuing this week next year! The planning will probably begin either in March, or early April. Because of this, please continue following this blog for the sake of next year’s brutalia week, and also just for the sake for late submissions!
