I feel like calling a Sans, AU Sans is counterintuitive to giving them a nickname to differentiate them in the first place.

Since you are so used to calling him Variant Cross, may I suggest calling him Valiant Cross instead.

That would be helpful, but I called him Variant Cross for a reason actually!

It has to do with his background as a former world terraformer and controller under XGaster.

A lot of the people under him were called 'Variants' once XGaster realized they were all just versions of an original. Even XGaster refers to himself as 'Variant XGaster' in his papers.
