@dcbrnncr liked this post for a song-based starter. song: candles by daughter.
Her nose was bleeding. Her head hurt. Eleven trembled with exertion and still she was barely able to lift the empty water bottle from the steel table on which it sat. She'd been so naive to think that coming here would unlock her powers so quickly -- but they didn't have time for this. Her friends, her new family were in danger, and she could only help them if she was strong. Eleven wiped her nose on her sleeve and looked at Papa - a man she now knew was called Doctor Brenner. She missed Hopper and Joyce, and their unending patience and understanding, but she would not taint her memory of them by thinking of them here. She needed to focus. "I should be able to do it," she said, frustrated with herself - and with him, for not having been able to solve her inability to access her powers. She cannot voice that particular thought so she turned her attention back to the bottle and took a couple of slow, steady breaths. Learn from the ones we hate the most, she thought. She may hate and fear Brenner, but he had taught her once and she had no choice but to trust that he would do so again. "You told me that you would be able to help me." It was a statement, only almost an accusation. "So help me. Don't just sit there and watch, do something."
