How long has she been running for? Flora wasn’t quite sure, the concept of time seems not to matter as much to her anymore... all she knew was that her feet were taking her in the same direction that cursed fortress was headed. It didn’t seem to have a set purpose other than causing destruction, but she has yet to see the full scale of it all. Then again, she got quite a good idea of what it could do from her first encounter with it back at home... if this fortress could decimate an entire section of a city, then how much damage would it do to this place?
...Stay calm. There was still time. Still hope. If she could just get up there, then she could do something... But how could she do that? A mere human was all she was, and there was no other way for her to get on it other than gaining height.
Turnip seemed much calmer than she was, now swinging the sword it had been entrusted for the time being around like a child that had been given a brand new toy. Truthfully, the lady had been following her little companion around, trusting that they would steer her away from unnecessary dangers. And for the most part, it was! They’ve already had to knock a couple of things over that got a bit too close, and she was certain that if a person happened to come along, their knees would be aching for the next week.
Much like her own... her feet slowly came to a stop as her body leaned down, hands resting on her own knees as she took several deep breaths. Running for this long wasn’t doing much to make her feel any better, it made her feel weaker than anything. Of course, Turnip had noticed this and immediately made a u-turn to check up on her. Once they were certain that she would be fine after some time to catch her breath and give her legs a break, they turned back around and held the sword defensively.
It was kind of cute... but also concerning. They must’ve learned that from her. Was she being too much of an influence?
At some point during Turnip’s continuous glances around, they stared in a particular direction for several seconds before a loud and happy sound got out of them, spinning around in excitement as they bolted off towards whatever had caused this excitement. “ Turnip, wait! “ A tired sigh got out of her as her rest had to come to an early end, straightening herself up and running after her companion. Unfortunately, it took a little longer than Turnip did to notice what had gotten them so excited earlier, but when she finally realised, her running only got faster.
“ Al! “ By the time Flora had caught up with Turnip, they were already making a bunch of noises at him, as well as swinging their sword around yet again. Thankfully not at him. It’s almost like they forgot they had it in their hand now... but that wasn’t her biggest concern. Deep and desperate breaths got out of her as she tried her best to not collapse right there and then. Gosh, this was going to be harder than she thought... but she needed to do something. “ Are you alright?! Nothing happened to you during all of this, right?! “ After giving him enough time to answer her question, her expression became a lot more... dull. Far too dull for someone as kind-looking as her.
“ ...You’ve seen the fortress too, haven’t you? It’ll destroy this place with everything else if we let it roam around! “ She couldn’t let that happen. Not because of her. This fortress could only be here because of her because she couldn’t get over the incident... this was her enemy. She needed to deal with it. “ What do we do!? We can’t just ignore it! “ The girl seemed panicked. Then again, most people did... except Turnip, they were just listening to them intrigued while they kept a lookout again.
