ย ย Lynne bends forward, seizing the towel mid-air. โYouโre right. Maybe an emergency poncho, tooโฆ do you think Iโd look good in a poncho? Iโve never worn one.โ She tosses it over her hair, pinching the ends together at the throat in an imitation of a hood โ and makes a little dramatic turn and a face, as if modeling.ย โYeah, I think Iโd pull it off! Mmโฆ today was bad, though. If Iโm buying an umbrella, it would have to be a tough one. I donโt want it flying off on me!โ
ย ย A short, thoughtful hum as she perches next to Carmen on the bed and unbuttons her jacket, tosses it down, and strips her dress down to join it in a small pile on the floor to be attended to later. Her torso is a sight; several long, thin strips across the chest area, small shallow hole-shaped scars and bluish discoloration along the hips. They donโt look painful, at least โ Lynne shows no discomfort with movement.ย
ย ย โIt was okay! Nothing exciting today. Just a lot of paperwork. I donโt think you ever really run out of paperwork on a job, do you?โ If sheโs aware of their visibility, she hasnโt said anything on the matter.ย โAaaand you? Itโs your turn! Unless youโre actually secretly a secret agent and youโre not allowed to tell me how your day was because itโs classified. In which case, you donโt have to tell me โ but tell me anyway!โ
โI think youโd look cute in a poncho,โ Carmen smirks. โMaybe one of those patterned ones? Some rain boots? Itโs a bold look, but you could pull it off.โ Luckily her coat is pretty waterproof, but now sheโs mentally making a note to buy Lynne a poncho as a funny gift.
Carmen tries not to stare as the dress falls-- not only because Lynne is beautiful (of course she is--), but because of the scars. She knows a detective is a dangerous line of work, but those injuries... they seem pretty serious. Wounds like that are lucky they werenโt fatal, right...?
โHm?โ Sheโs snapped out of her thoughts by Lynneโs question, realizing sheโd gotten a bit lost in speculation. โNot a secret agent, dear, just a teacher,โ she laughs. Though Lynne was a bit closer than she realized there.
โIt was fine-- we had a kid get stuck in a locker again, but I managed to open the lock easily enough. Itโs crazy the situations those kids get themselves into...โ she shakes her head. โSpeaking of,โ her eyes are drawn to Lynne again. โI know being a detective isnโt the easiest job, but... is it dangerous?โ A pause. She doesnโt want to make Lynne uncomfortable by asking, but she wants to be there for her if she needs it.
โHave you been injured on the job...?โ
