@dckv, what a funny question

“How do I... do my hair?”

No doubt. That was the look of an analytical madman. He had to be questioning the physics of her hair, asking questions she had long since abandoned. Weight and volume had no meaning. Traditional metrics held no stock. They could not stand up against eldritch-esque properties. Why? This was her hair.

“Don’t know. It just comes together at some point. I’ve had years to practice on my siblings and myself.”

Industrial grade combs, super-strength hair spray, and muscle. That, combined with abounding patience. Time and concentration worked their magic. Rapunzel had nothing on her – where was the challenge in not styling her hair?

“Do you need help with your hair, too? It always sticks up everywhere. You own a hairbrush, don’t you.” Didn’t he? What should have been an inquiring tone fell flat, like it was a silly question to be asking, but now that she thought about it, perhaps it was not a ridiculous thing to wonder.

Midoriya Izuku is not happy. 

So, @dckv made a positive post and brought up something I full on support. 

The headcanon that even though he acts like it, and acts like he path he chose is one he’s content with, that’s not entirely the truth.

Midoriya’s path to villainy was built up over a long time-- He took his friendship with Bakugou ending as well as the bullying more personally than canon Midoriya. But the final push for him was that day with the sludge dude-- first feeling completely helpless as he nearly suffocated/drowned to death, then All Might telling him that being quirkless couldn’t lead to him being a hero, and finally aiding in rescuing Bakugou from the sludge guy only for Bakugou to yell at him. It’s after this that things drift away from canon. 

All Might never got the chance to talk to Midoriya about gaining OFA and becoming a hero-- Midoriya instead hurried on home before he could get the chance. These events festered inside of him and eventually, after signing up for the UA entrance exam and getting an apology letter back in return, he gave up. 

He went on in a trance for a while, going on to some lower, local high school until one day, he met Shigaraki. It was normal at first-- He just ran into this random guy and was asked why a kid like him was behaving the way he was. He didn’t know why, but he ended up spilling out the entire thing. Whenever he stopped talking, it had been silent for a moment before Shigaraki had told him to meet him at the same location that weekend. 

Cut to the meeting time, Shigaraki propositioned him something; he could prove the world wrong and show he could be powerful. 

In a world of villainy. 

Now, this made him hesitate at first but with some sweet words from Shigaraki, he agreed, 

With this, Midoriya had to go missing. 

Now, he made this choice himself. Midoriya is a careful kid and couldn’t see it being safe for him continuing on in life-- the threat of being caught seeming imminent. So he decided to begin living at the bar, going straight there after school. Of course, not informing his mother would aid in this, as she’d be too frantic and mournful to be acting like she was a part of the whole thing should Midoriya end up getting caught in the future. He proceeds to be trained by Shigaraki and eventually met Sensei, who saw him as a good fit to their team with his observational skills and knowledge of quirks. 

Which leads to know. 

Midoriya is well involved in villainy, but he can’t find himself happy. At the beginning, he convinced himself that he’d be better and he’d finally be at level with Bakugou... 

But he’s always wanted to be a hero. 

He left his mother alone, without a husband and without a son. To grieve and think that her baby is probably dead in a ditch somewhere.

Imagine her finding out her son just ran away to become a villain because he was so desperate to prove himself worthy, to show he could be strong, that he wasn’t as weak as shown to be. 

He doesn’t like the villainy. 

He just wants this to be a dream, wake up at home and have everything be normal. 

But he’s already so involved that he feels there’s no other choice but to continue. 

And so he acts-- He continued to be the villain he’s expected to be by the League and to be the villain he’s not so expected by the rest.

And so he smiles.

“Hey, you dropped this--!!” Sorey bent over to pick up the rather tattered ( it almost looked like it’d been burnt ) notebook from the ground before a very vivid scene flashed across his senses. Some kind of pile of-- green goo? The sight and smell of fire. The sound of screaming.

The boy stumbled back, dropping the object in question in alarm. “Whoa--!!”

without   compass   and   without   memory :   let   is   start   again .   leading   as   a   destination   the   deaf   chain   of   walking   without   shade .   did   you   fall   through   the   slots   of   the   night ,   sunken   in   the   midst   of   friendships ?   without   borders   where   desire   dwells .   staying   still ,   silent   is   overwhelming   in   his   habit   but   HE   DOES .   pencil   between   fingers   hiting   the   wood ,   the   exasperation   of   the   peaceful .   unwise .   impatient .              ‘      oi ,   pay   attention .      ’

WITHERED  and  scarred  sat  the  magical  girl  --  crouched  behind  a  large  amount  of greenery.  Eyes  closed  in  meditation,  her  best  attempt  to  heal  at  a  faster  pace.  The whereabouts  of  her  and  the  FREED  witch  were  unknown,  but  her  energy  dwindled  -- even  refurbishing  her  soul  gem  left  her  WEARY. 

Eyes  opened,  dreading  to  continue  the  fight  but  knowing  she  must  not  allow  danger continue  to  reign  over  open  land.  To  see  a  pair  of  green  eyes  met  with  her  own  made her  jump  --  SHOOK  by  his  presence.  The  first  human  she  spotted  in  the  desolate  area.

     ❛ let’s seeeee… if i time it right, tonight i can make it through about a week’s worth of material, stay ahead, and still have enough time to wake up early tomorrow and get a jump on my weekend training… or will staying up wear me out? ❜ pen clasped between his top row of teeth and bottom lip, midoriya furrows his brow and leans back in his desk chair, mind continuing where his half - muffled mumbling had left off. 

maybe i’m thinking too much about this, he thinks. maybe i’m thinking too much in general, rings a thought from an entirely different sector of his brain. he grimaces, heart clenching in his chest where he sat – he knows what he’s doing; forcing his brain to stay overly - occupied so that the images, flashes of recent events, stayed at bay. so that he stayed ‘ alright ‘, if not for his own sake, then for his friends. but what if he was making it worse…?

KNOCK KNOCK! 

     ❛  miiiiidoriya! we’re going to play a game together, are you in or ARE YOU IN, BRO!? ❜  kirishima’s booming, elated voice brings midoriya back down to earth, eyes wide and pen falling right out of his mouth when his lips part. he stays put for a solid five seconds before the question processes, quickly scrambling to a standing up position.   ❛ uhhhh…. ! ❜  he starts, gaze falling on his piles upon piles of school work and mind racing at his current predicament. he hadn’t expected anyone to want to hang out, and really wanted to get ahead while he could, but… ah, screw it. he’s already a few days ahead – and if his friends wanted to hang out, then… !!   

     ❛ y-yeah, okay! i’m coming. ❜ not without banging his elbow right into the corner of his desk ( shit! that hurt!! ), izuku runs forth, clutches the hurt elbow with a growing smile, and out the door, unknowingly leaving his door key behind in the excitement of being invited out. his friends – !!!

  “ your determination to become a hero is laudable ”     his golden armour reflecting the sunlight as his blue eyes gaze down upon the young hero in training. he has no business in this world his part as a hero --- his legend had already been written down. but this boy, this boy still had a long way ahead of him. “ however, ” a pause, “ i also sense doubt within you, why ? ” does the boy really have what it takes to become a hero? // @dckv
