DCP : Day off aka doing everything in one day

wow! Today was so busy. Woke up late, and Sarina and I decided to go to Typhoon Lagoon. We didn't stay long, we just went snorkeling/swam with the sharks and did a few rides. and then went home. After Sarah, Sarina, Rosalee, Emily and I all went to Magic Kingdom to preview the Mine Train!!! wooooo exciting~ We rode it 4 times, I rode in the very front the first time and somewhere in the middle every other time. We wanted the back, but they weren't doing preferred seating (understandable, since it was only open for Cast members). So we left and went to Hollywood where we met up with Abby and rode Tower of terror, and then Sarah and Sarina went off to do something while the other 4 of us did Rockin' Roller Coaster (one of my favorite rides, next to Tower of Terror, and I hadn't been on it since I was 7). Then we did Tower of Terror one last time in order to take a staged photo, which I'll post, and parted ways. Rosalee and I went back to Magic Kingdom to watch Wishes and get dinner, we went to Gaston's Tavern, had some frozen Apple Juice and decided to try to get the back of the Mine Train again. Well after three tries, we finally got to ride in the very last cart AND we got to watch the fireworks on the ride. So that was awesome.

ALSO- passed my assessment at work so I am officially done training!

Here are pictures from traditions (thursday) and tonight (saturday)! We went to magic kingdom and had an amazing time. We got there at like 6, rode a few rides, went to Peco's and then caught the Electrical Parade (which is my favorite parade in any of the parks). if you haven't seen it, its amazing, everything is glowing and some of the pricnesses are there (snow and cinderella) and also Anastasia and Drizilla who are my favorite so its nice to see them in the parades. I became friends with someone in entertainment and it was cool because i got to see him in the parade too which was awesome. From there we literally ran to Big Thunder Mountain and got to watch wishes on the ride which was the coolest thing I think i've seen at disney, ever. After, most of my roommates went home since they have work in the morning so Emily and I stayed and completed the "mountain challenge"- going on all 3 mountain rides in one day. So we did splash in the front, which got us soaked pretty bad, and then ran back to Space mountain where we took the back of the ship and it was sooo much fun.  I start work work tomorrow though, so we'll see how that goes!

Disney University is the most boring thing you will do during your cp- I can guaranty it. Its basically an extended traditions where you just learn more about the 4 keys. I got out an hour early though, but also hit traffic so it took me an hour (it took me 17 minutes this morning) to get home.I got access to the hub though (the WDW cast member website) where I learned my schedule for the next week!

Sunday- 6:15pm-2:30am

Monday- 4;45pm-1:00am

Wednesday: 9:30-4pm

Friday: 5:00pm-11:00pm

Saturday: 10:45-4:45pm

So I have two days off, Tuesday and Thursday, which is cool, because those are the days I wanted off anyway! I just really hope they stick to a somewhat consistent work schedule. Unfortunately, though, tomorrow is going to be a super long day for me since I have park orientation and will be up at like, 5am.

DCP

8 hours of Disney University today! Roommates all decided to take the bus, but I'm driving just because the bus was making me feel so sick yesterday. Then coming home, watching Grey's Anatomy, and going back to bed because I have another 8 hours of Magic Kingdom training in the morning!

little dcp diary update:

Last night was awesome! It was the last night my roommates and I all had off together so we went out to Chile's for dinner with a few of our other friends and had a blast.  There was this guy who makes these incredible balloon animal/people things (which is the first picture), so each one of us got different characters (L to R- Elsa, harry potter, Rapunzel, Kristoff, Buzz Lightyear, and Jack Sparrow). After dinner we all came back to the apartment and had a mini-coloring book party where we all just vegged out, colored and watched Wreck it Ralph (I had never saw it before and it was so cute!). Afterwards a few of us hung around the living room and watched a few episodes of friends (2 of the girls have never watched the earlier seasons, so we're starting from the beginning!). It was a great last night to just hang out and get to know each other better.

DCP- Traditions, Training, etc

Fair warning, most of the time your training schedule will suck. 3 of my roommates lucked out where they had early traditions, 3 of us have the afternoon.

So its Thursday and you have Traditions! (Could be different for every check-in, but this is when our arrival had ours scheduled) Traditions is an 8 hour class where you learn all about Disney history and then you walk around the magic kingdom. You also get your name tag and main entrance pass! There were two classes- one at 8am, and one at 230pm. Now, like I said, it's an 8 hour class so if you're lucky enough to be like me and have the 230 class (this is sarcasm by the way~), you won't be getting out until 1030, and probably won't be home until around 1130/12. 

Okay So now its Friday (your schedule may be different): From there, you go to Disney University (ooooh,aaaaah) which is where- well actually I'm not entirely sure what Disney U is, I think its like traditions 2.0? Anyway, one of my roommates has it split into 2 days (4 hours each day, Friday and Saturday), like 2 of them have it on Sunday, The rest of us though (2 of us being those who have the later traditions), have it at 7am all day Friday. Now normally, having to be to work for 7am isn't that bad, right? Well we have to catch the 6:25 bus, and we won't be getting home until 12ish at night. So there's that... 

From there, a lot of people I've talked to either have Saturday or Sunday off (or both!). I do not. I have "Once upon a time....Is now!" which to my understanding is an orientation more geared towards people working in MK? But I'm not entirely sure because my roommate who is working in Mk doesn't have it so yeah (shes working QSFB like me, too so its not even a role difference thing). Anyway, that's 8 hours too.

And then my Orientation schedule for day 4 refers me to my "local training schedule"- which I haven't been able to access yet, but again, some people on day 4 are still at Disney U. I think it all just depends on how busy your location is!

**update** I found out traditions is only 4 hours, yay! Looks like I'm going to Epcot to explore the flower and garden festival after work ;)

That ceiling is GORGEOUS! It makes me want to stay in Vista! Except I don't think I would enjoy possibly having to share a bathroom with 3 other girls

Yeah the bathroom thing is weird- just get there early like I did and swoop the one with the bathroom :p But also, not all Vista apartments are like this! Some have 2 bathrooms/2 bedrooms. Like we wanted a 4 person apartment and they put us in 6, but we know people who wanted 6 and had to split to 4/2 and have 2 bathrooms in the their 4 person apartment. Its weird and all luck of the draw. Our apartment is really big though, like bigger than some of the Chatham ones I've seen!

Hey guys! Just wanted to upload pictures of the apartment! We're staying in a 3 bedroom (6 girls)/ 2 bath in Vista. We're on the 3rd floor and have crazy gorgeous high ceilings (if you click on the pictures you can see them better!) My room has a bathroom alone, the other two rooms share one. Also shout out to Em who brought a record player, upping our apartments cool-ness.
