[image ID: A mashup of Baldur's Gate 3 images and Disco Elysium dialogue.] Astarion's Encyclopedia: [Challenging: Failure] Hold on, what's R&D? Astarion: "Wait, what's an R&D department?" Gale Dekarios: "Apologies, it's an acronym for research and development, they don't use it anymore." He smiles brightly, laugh lines around his eyes. "You're probably more familiar with RTD, research and technical development." Astarion's Encyclopedia: [Easy: Success] Mea culpa! You were not familiar with that one either. This man is a book head.
[image ID: A mashup of Baldur's Gate 3 images and Disco Elysium dialogue.] Dark Urge: "Don't be scared, but I think I might have supra-natural abilities." Gale Dekarios: He opens one hand and looks at it. A moment passes. "Which school do you subscribe to—Mambo..." He opens the other hand: "... or Jambo?" Dark Urge: "Wait, which is the one where you hear your hallucinations talk to you?" Gale Dekarios: "Mental illness." Dark Urge: "Because I have that." Gale Dekarios: "So the god of murder sent you, because you are the most mentally ill out of all the spawn at your station?" Dark Urge: "No, it's not that bad. I'm sure we have spawn way more mentally ill than me."
harry wakes up and remembers nothing about himself or his past but immediately becomes a raging feminist
i'm half convinced harry is the only one who knows he's in a video game. kim comments on how weird it is that he picks everything up, and wants to open every door, and gets sidetracked on random quests, and tries to connect every piece of garbage he finds to the case, but then it's KIM's idea to stuff a decomposing body into an ice bear fridge in an abandoned basement and harry's like "oh my god, of course that's what the fridge is for! why didn't i think of that!"
and then kim, having experienced his first video game protagonist moment, expects harry to NOT tell the world about it??
failing really easy inconsequential checks is one of my favorite things in this game. like the game EXPECTS you to get it, but still adds in possibilities if you get unlucky, and immediately gives you another chance by adding a positive modifier that basically amounts to "okay, even you should get this now."
DOOR, APARTMENT #12 — A shabby door hangs oddly on its hinges, secured to the doorframe with a safety chain. An unpaid energy bill is attached, threatening to cut off the electricity. It's addressed to Mr. Uuno de Ruyter. Check: [Interfacing - Easy 8] Use the cutters on the chain. [Success: High, 92%] INTERFACING [Easy: Failure] — It should be easy, but... it's just an awkward angle, okay? The door doesn't really open wide enough to really get the cutters through. You can't get the leverage you need. And the cutters are blunt. AND the chain is... just super strong, okay? It's not your fault you can't cut it! PERCEPTION (HEARING) [Medium: Success] — Fabric rustles. The lieutenant's chin catches against his collar. He is looking on, shaking his head in disappointment. KIM KITSURAGI — The lieutenant smiles. "Trouble with the chain, officer?" YOU — "Hey, don't look at me! You're the one packing shitty chaincutters." KIM KITSURAGI — "Of course, officer." The lieutenant smiles obligingly. "My RCM regulation, recently distributed cutters are the problem." INTERFACING — You can't stand for that! Come on, show him what you can REALLY do! Check: [Interfacing - Easy 8] Use the cutters on the chain. [Modifiers: +1 Won't be beat by a goddamn door. Success: Very High, 97%]
