@deacblues - dave, now deep into his film snob phase, tries to put john onto an actually good movie.

Eventually, John throws his head back and treats the ceiling to a rough, deep chested sigh. "Dave," he says. "We must be, like, an hour into this movie."

"Closer to forty-three minutes," says Dave.

"Okay, but the fact that it feels like way the hell longer is not exactly a ringing endorsement for your movie selection." He elbows himself back into sitting on the couch, but he’s looking at Dave now, not the screen. 

Dave pauses ‘My Dinner With Andre’ on a particularly well composed shot of a lifted wineglass. No sense missing out on some prime scriptwriting just because John can’t wait until the end of the movie to share his filmographic contemplations.

“We must be, like, forty-three minutes into this movie,” John repeats himself, more correctly, “and these guys are still sitting around chatting. Fine! I get it already! They are friends! But when is the PLOT going to happen!?”
