Some footage of an antlion feeding I got with a microscope. I kept some of these as pets but sadly missed them emerging from their cocoons.
In the video it actually drops the ant itās injecting digestive juices into and then frantically searches for it. What a cutie <3

when i was on my ācicada tripā in illinois, i found a lot of cicadas that died while molting. after 17 years underground, dying during their big transition. i found it very sad but also kind of beautifully cool? i had to draw it!
when these types of cicadas are molting, theyāre white as their exoskeleton hasnāt hardened yet. their exoskeleton becomes black as it hardens
