The coterie arrives at the Pet Cemetery under the light of a sickly moon. Fog rolls low. Graves hum with memory, and Amy hums Ramones:
🎶I don't want to be buried in a pet sematary
I don't want to live my life again🎶
Leslie hears something behind him— A flash of pink fur darts through the headstones.
"What the hell—did that cat just... look at me with sarcasm?"
"Ah... seekers in black coats and blacker thoughts. Looking for a cat, are we? The cat is rarely where he is, often where he isn’t, and never where he’s expected. Much like trouble. Or love."
"You’re... pink. And you talk. Are you actually real?"
"I was real once. Then I realized it was dreadfully overrated. Now I’m curious. And being curious is so much more fun."
"Jeanette sent us to find you."
"Ah, my fractured mistress of lace and lightning. She forgets that cats cannot be possessed. But I suppose I can be persuaded..."
"Lead on, twilight couriers. I do so love a dramatic return."
🎶And the night when the wolves cry out
Listen close and you can hear me shout🎶
(As they approach the Asylum, a woman leans casually against a column)
"You’ve danced with a ghost queen, wrestled with fractured madness, and now you return… with a cat that sees more than you ever will. I'm impressed."
"Most Kindred flee from the past. But you… you run toward it. Into haunted museums and abandoned cemiteries, like moths mistaking flame for moonlight. It’s beautiful. And suicidal. But mostly beautiful."
"Are you following us?"
"Actually, I live next door. The screams blend nicely with the DJ."
"I’ll see you again. Very soon, I hope"
(Back inside the Asylum, Therese confronts the group).
"Where is the necklace?"
"We gave it to Jeanette."
"Of course you did."
"At least you brought back the cat."
"Fine. We’ll attend the ball. Myself. My sister. And the Anarchs of the Asylum."
"One more thing. There’s a message you need to pass on—"
"Tell your crew we’re looking for a photographer... one who specializes in Still Unlife."
"That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard."
"But fine. They’ll be there."
Next Episode: "MASQUERADE MASSACRE" – The Masquerade Ball begins.
Will Amy acknowledge the irony of a vampire singing "I don't want to live my life again"?
Can Rebecca survive the Voerman sisters... and her own desires?
Can Pisha resist snacking on the hors d’oeuvres (the guests)?

#SimsbyNight - Episode 20 (Part II): "The Pale Queen's Wrath & Jeanette's Kitten"
← PREVIOUS | TABLE OF CONTENTS| BEGINNING | NEXT →
The coterie enters the Paranormal Museum of Copperdale:
Amy inspects a menacing lineup of garden gnomes.
Suzana observes portraits of Claude René Duplantier Guidry, silently analyzing his death aura.
Rebecca finds a display labeled “Specter in a Jar”.
Leslie stares at a gilded frame of Vlad Straud, eyes narrowing.
Amy (again) finds haunted dolls.
"Of course she does."
Suzana stands before an ominous collection of ceramic jars.
Rebecca examines haunted clay hands, one twitching in her direction.
Leslie lingers at a portrait of vampire lovers, looking thoughtful.
(At last, they find it: the Necklace of the Pale Queen)
(Rebecca reaches out and lifts it gently.)
(She emerges)
"Who dares disturb my rest?”
"Okay! We are quoting Skyrim now"
“That which is mine cannot be stolen... not without price!"
"We came seeking knowledge, not conquest. Let us speak before we fight."
"Or fight then flirt. I’m open-minded."
"Please don’t let this be another blood-vomiting banshee."
"If it is, I call first punch."
(Suzana and the Pale Queen prepare for an epic fight)
"You tremble with borrowed power. You think you understand me, witchling?"
But instead of casting, Suzana breathes deeply, and teaches the Queen something forgotten: how to breathe again.
The tension dissolves. The Pale Queen listens. Then laughs. Then remembers.
A peace is struck. The necklace is released. A secret is shared.
Back to the Asylum, the Coterie meets with Jeanette, instead of Therese:
"How odd, I was just having naughty thoughts about you. You made quite an impression earlier. Did you come up just to cheer lonely, little me?"
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I did. I couldn't stop thinking about you."
"Really? Do I often pogostick through your thoughts wearing nothing but a smile? Be honest... or don't."
"All the time, Jeanette. What do I do in your thoughts?"
"What all suede kittens do... on hands and knees, you lap up the milk of me... and we purr, kitten, like dragonflies buzzing around frog bellies."
"Kinky."
"So... Therese told me you might be back with something for her. Do you have it with you?"
"This will make her happy, but... I’m not done with you."
"My darling cat, Cheshire, has gone missing. I’ve looked everywhere—under beds, on rooftops, in other people’s memories. Nothing."
"He was last seen prowling around the Pet Cemetery on Deadgrass Isle, in Brindleton Bay. Such a spooky, deliciously cursed place. Would you be a bunch of dears and fetch him for me? You’ll know him. He's got glowing eyes, a smile, and the personality of a doomed poet."
Next Episode: "Cheshire's Capers & Pisha's Proposal" – One feline, one graveyard, endless chaos.
Is Cheshire really a cat—or something worse?
Will Jeanette reward them with gratitude—or further unholy flirtation?
Can Rebecca resist adopting all the ghost pets?
