What is Deadly Grace about? I'm curious about it.
‘Young souls doing terrible things to become Holy.‘ Is what I have for their weheartit collection description, and it’s not the full explanation lol. The story used to be called Deadly Games, but I thought that was a bit too on the nose lolol
It’s about young gods/ or half gods/ spirits battling in a series of games, with each game set in either an alternate reality or just a liminal space. They call them games and not trials because sometimes the old gods get bored and like to see a little something new and exciting.
The story follows a Laura, a demi-goddess in a band. Her goal is to pass the games and become a full goddess. Her powers are based on being able to create new realities and anything to do with souls (like life or death, even minor healing). It starts off with her and her first Wraith, her childhood friend Dorian. She will get more Wraiths as the story goes on, reviving some of the kills she makes during the games.
Camden is another one of the ‘young gods’, and these two become entangled together, using each other to relieve the stress of it all. He’s also in a band, and he’s got a Peter Pan obsession, never wanting to grow up. They are an odd couple. It starts off and something like ‘friends with benefits’ because the in the games, one of them might you know…die horribly, so they don’t want to become too attached. But as we know, that kind of relationship either falls apart or it grabs them both by the throat and grows into something more. For them, it’ll be more.
What they don’t know is that Camden will be her biggest trial yet.
