insane how everyones said their say about the superbowl but where is the LSPR appreciation??? the first super bowl interpreted in anything other than asl, which interpretation in asl is it's own huge win but omg!!! lspr!!! with unique spanish-influenced and puerto rican signs??? awesome!!! also— just the use of lspr is a preservation of puerto rican culture, since deaf kids are increasingly being educated in asl. im happy to see signs i dont understand!!! preserve that culture!!! and the performance from the wonderful interpreters, one of which is bad bunny's usual interpreter was fucking amazing. talk about it!!!

Drunk History's segment on Judy Heumann and the protests for rights for people with disabilities. I love this so much! Its great to see actual disabled actors, and in a comedy sketch no less! I dont feel embarrassed or ashamed of myself watching this. Its so relaxing.

Needing a Skype Buddy for ASL practice!!

Ahoy bugaboos. As you may or may not know, I am Autistic, have severe auditory processing Disorder and use ASL (usually the alphabet to fingerspell words that I'm having trouble making with my mouthparts). Beyond that, I have to wear earplugs or headphones 24/7 because my Sensory system is a train wreck. I know a decent amount of ASL but I'm trying to get completely fluent and at home in it so that I can have an Interpreter. It takes so much effort to read lips/understand and process what is verbally being said to me that I'm constantly exhausted. Having the opportunity to use an interpreter is going to literally change my life.

So I'm looking for a signing buddy, fluent in ASL who is willing to chat with me on Skype so I can immerse myself in the language. It's okay if you're deaf, I know enough signs to communicate/understand.

Deaf history is so !!! it should be taught in schools as a unit !!! Deaf kids should be able to learn about their community without extensive research !!!!!!!!!!!!
