Stiles is home from Berkeley for the summer, but only because he promised the pack. He'd rather not see Derek, because whatever the thing was that they were doing, they're not doing it anymore, and it sucks.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have a choice. The betas tried a magical remedy for Derek's melancholy, and now Stiles has a three-year-old who looks like Derek. Stiles doesn't know how to deal with that, and he definitely doesn't know how to tell the betas he and Derek were secret fuck buddies for a year and a half.

"It's stupid, and dangerous, but he does it anyway. He knows that if he succeeds the pack is going to rip him a new one, but it will be worth it. He'll be able to protect them. Be useful. And if it goes wrong, well, then at least they won't have to worry about him. He reads the warnings, but doesn't heed them. Big, bolded letters of caution mean nothing to Stiles. He does the ritual, chants the chants, and feels magic come alive around him, which if he thinks about it is somewhat ironic considering the nature of the ritual. He didn't calculate how much it would take out of him correctly and as his vision fades he thinks that at least he won't be a burden anymore.

He wakes up in ten-year-old-Stiles' body with a small army of the undead circled around him, waiting for their commander and master to awake."
