Why was it so cold?
Shuddering, the girl wrapped herself in her cape. It wasn’t much, more meant for looks than any sort of functionality, but it was better than nothing. Where was she again? The place felt familiar, though the drooping walls and winding floors were just twisted enough to elude her. The more she thought about it, the colder it felt. The sudden distant slam of a door caught her attention, her heart pounding in tandem with the echoing footsteps of the manor inhabitant.
Oh.
She really had tried to shove all memory of the event from her mind the moment she completed the contract that shoved her through the decrepit doors, but it seems she hadn’t tried hard enough. The hallway seemed to grow shorter as the woman approached, almost pushing her closer. A hand shot out, the temperature only plummeting as claws plunged into her chest—
A panicked blue glow pierced through the darkness of her room, eyes having shot open as the nightmare finally came to an end. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, with her hands gripping at the fabric over it.
