Natasha walked into the living room, where Steve was sitting quietly, sketching. She slipped into the couch next to him, peeking into his drawing.

"What's that?" She asked.

Steve continued sketching, not answering. He then sighed. "Do you believe in the whole soulmate legend?"

Natasha looked thoughtful. "You mean the whole symbol thing? The symbol of true love won't show on your forearm unless you've met your soulmate."

Steve nodded.

"No, not really. I mean, why would someone I've never met before be my soulmate, rather than someone I know very well?" Nat asked. "Doesn't make much sense."

"Yeah, but what if it's not just love? I mean, maybe your soulmate is your best friend." Steve wondered, continuing to sketch.

"Hm. I don't know, I guess that might be nice."

"Yeah. I mean... what if I was supposed to meet them in the 40s, you know? or 50s, or 70s... but I was frozen in ice."

"If this whole thing is real, then I'm sure it considers what happens to you." Natasha said, shrugging. "Beer?"

Steve shook his head.

"I mean, no offense, but Steve isn't a spy. Remind me why he's on this top secret spy mission with us again?" Asked Clint.

"Because he's not being as loud as you are, dumbass," whispered Natasha starkly. 

Clint shrugged.

"I can't believe they think it's an actual ghost," he added after a short period of silence. "I mean, SHIELD doesn't do ghosts. Not to mention that they don't even exist and all---- holy shit guys are you-- are you seeing this?"

The three of them stopped in their tracks, faced with a pale spirit. She narrowed her eyes, suddenly appearing right in front of them. 

"Uh, hi?" Clint attempted. Not much success.

"Is it just me, or is it getting cold here?" Steve asked, shivering lightly. "What do we even do with ghosts?"

"Hey, ghostie," came a voice, "thought you escaped me?"

Natasha narrowed her eyes as a young man came running, hitting the spirit with an iron rod. It shrieked and disappeared. 

"What's that?" She asked. "Who are you?"

"Dean Winchester, nice to meet you," Dean introduced, shaking her hand and winking. Natasha rolled her eyes. "This is an iron rod. Didn't kill it, but distracted it. My brother is burning the bones. And you?"

"I'm Natalie," she lied smoothly. "These are Cole and --"

"Captain America, holy shit." Dean finished, staring at Steve with glimmering eyes. "Fuck, man, it's you."

Steve smiled lightly.

"I mean, I think you're the reason I realized I was bi. But dude. You're much hotter in real life, just saying."

Clint burst out laughing. "Oh my god, you two might as well fuck."

Dean turned to Steve with a playful gaze.

"I--Clint, focus on the mission, please." Steve stammered.

The spirit reappeared before anyone could respond. It began to send flying objects their way. Natasha dodged them skillfully, Clint got hit in the face with a few small objects, and Steve shielded himself and Dean from the bigger objects coming their way.

"Augh," Dean muttered, scratching his arm. His entire forearm was itching. 

Natasha threw a small iron object at the spirit, causing it to vanish again. 

Dean pulled up his sleeve, feeling the need to itch. His eyes widened, however, when he saw a weird symbol. Circles, lines, triangles... all compacted into a small section near his inner elbow. He quickly rolled down his sleeve.

Steve, however, seemed to be scratching his arm too. His suit seemed too tight for him to roll it up, however. Dean's breath hitched.

"You okay?" He asked. "I'm getting some itches too, uh, near my elbow. Think it's an infection?"

Steve furrowed his eyebrows. He unbuttoned the hem of his sleeve before rolling it up slightly. It was on his wrist. "What is this?"

"I, uh... I got the same symbol." Dean said, showing him his arm. "I'll have to, uh, do some research on it. Just in case, you know, the spirit did it..."

Steve felt his heart pacing. "Yeah. Yeah, just... drop by the Avengers Tower if you get anything."

Dean smiled.

37. meeting in prison au

"I'm Captain America," repeated Steve for the hundredth time, "I was out there helping clean up the city after the Chitauri attack. Someone shot the man, it wasn't me."

"Don't care who you are, son, you're in here unless you prove otherwise. Witnesses said they saw you shoot him." Replied the guard, tired of this conversation.

Steve sighed. It was gonna be a long day before SHIELD fished him out.

Steve was forced out of his cell. Apparently he needed to go to the cafeteria to get some food and stay hydrated. He grabbed a quick, disgusting meal. It took him a while to find an empty table, but he was able to be on his own. Thank god.

"Hey, mind if I sit here?" 

Steve looked up to find a young man, wide grin on his face. Freckled face, spiked hair, wide shoulders. Steve sighed. "Uh, sure."

The man slipped in across from Steve, still smiling. "You look an awful lot like Captain America."

Steve chuckled. "Well, the guards wouldn't believe me when I told them."

"You mean you're actually cap? That's pretty cool. I'm Dean, by the way. Dean Winchester." Dean introduced himself, shaking Steve's hand. "My brother is in love with Thor, by the way. He tries to grow his hair out the same way and all."

Steve smiled, unsure of what to say in response.

"I'm not an actual prisoner," Dean continued, "no need to be so wary. Just doing some undercover hunting while my brother fakes being cop."

Raising his eyebrows, Steve asked, "SHIELD?"

Dean looked at him, confused. "What?"

"Who are you working for?"

"Uh, no one. My brother and I hunt... well, monsters. You know. The paranormal and all." Dean explained. "Hard to believe, I know, but--"

"I fought aliens. I think at this point, there's nothing I won't believe."

and they chatted happily ever after

just a quick fluff ficlet before I go to bed because this is slowly becoming my otp :’)

Steve opened his eyes slowly. They felt heavy. He was surprised to feel no pain, considering he had been beaten… pretty badly before he lost consciousness.

When he opened his eyes, he saw a man sitting by his side. Steve was still lying on the ground.

"Cap, you’re awake," said the man. "We need to talk."

Steve rubbed his eyes slowly, confused. “Sorry… But I need to go back to the battle—”

"You’re dying."

Steve blinked in surprise.

"I have the serum, im sure it can—"

"The serum is old, cap. They found things to attack it. Science is mostly reversible, after all."

Steve nodded slowly.

"But I can give ya a deal."

"…"

"I’ll let you live. Like now. I took away the pain from you to prove a point. You can go back and fight." Explained the man.

"In exchange for what?"

The man was quiet. “If you weren’t my idol, I would have asked for your soul. But I’ll take a kiss without the soul.”

Steve looked at him, confused. Kiss?

"What do you mean?"

The mean blinked, and his eyes turned black. Full black. “Name’s Dean Winchester. I’m a demon. Nice to meet you, by the way. Though I always wanted to meet you in better circumstances. Get your autograph, even.”

"… I… what do you want?"

"I won’t let you die. We usually seal the deal with a kiss… But I’ll let the kiss be the deal."

Steve looked around him in a haze. He nodded slowly. He needed to go back to battle.

Dean smiled. It was a soft, sweet, smile. He leaned in, brushing Steve’s hair away from his face before he kissed him lightly.

"Just don’t forget me, Cap."

Steve blacked out after that.

"Hey Steve, watcha drawing over there?" Asked Clint, hopping onto the couch next to Steve. "Who is that?"

Steve looked up at Clint, and back down to the sketch.

Dean. The face that never left his memory. The soft kiss. Was it his imagination? Had he been hallucinating? Was it a dream? Could it have been real?

"Wish I knew."

Dean thought he was reckless- turns out Steve is downright suicidal half the time. You can't just charge into a nest of anything with a shield

Steve is the first person in probably ever to notice Dean really really really likes being cuddled

Dean bitches about the shield all the time, but also likes to play with it when Steve isn't looking

Dean spends about the half the time thinking he's not worthy of Steve and the rest of it curled into Steve's side and kissing whenever he can
