A WOMAN , CAPTIVATED BY DEATH claimed by the reaper’s hands / a persephone longing for love , drug to the underworld by hades chariot ( too soon you had been taken , too youthful ---- a flower just bloomed , with petals of sapphire & crimson ) all of it stolen by a man with greed written on his lips , false promises covered in saccharine ---- a tone sweet enough to melt hearts . tell me , fair maiden , was the moon full that night ? did the birds croon sweetly as you met beneath the tree ? was it the fairytale you had dreamed of ? ( all until the moment was cut short , did you see the moon’s weeping reflection in his blade ? how long did you lie like that : bloodied , half buried , forgotten deep in hallow woods ? ) in a way i understand / in a way i share that pain . would you ask me what those cold waters felt like ? if the moon watched a thousand years ago as i too lay bloodied & forgotten ? the waters washed me away , time forgotten the gleam of the sun ---- and you , a flower suffocated , petals left to decay in the muddied earth ❝ how long have you been here ? ❞
it’s gentle , spoken like the lips of a prophet with bad news . his fingers rest against her arm for a moment ---- warm / burning ( in his eyes burns the sun , golden lights shifting & blinding ) he sighs , and with it rushes a summer breeze ❝ you look so sad , speak to me , i will listen ❞
