Dear Humans,
This is going to be a brief insight from my life. (Part II)
*Also how I broke my Grandpa’s heart*
12/17/17
So remember my awesome Grandpa from earlier? Anyway, This is how I basically broke his heart.
After we share the fried rice, talk about seeing Star Wars and more awkward silence we get on the subject of my cats. My cats have been staying with him since May when I went to go work in Colorado and while I was looking for my own place when I got back.
He says” You know, I am going to miss the little blonde one. He has been sleeping with me on the couch during the night. He walks around the house now and comes looking for me, or for food. The other one, not so much. He doesn’t really come out or anything.”
I have to remind him what my cats names are all the time, “Oh yeah, Puck is a cuddle bug. He’ll sleep on your pillow and on top of your head. He’s pretty chill. Also, yeah that’s accurate. Iris doesn’t really like many people, except for me really.”
I gather up everything that I left for them, litter, food, litter pan and bowls. I then take Iris to my Jeep first. I don’t have a carrier so I kind just held him and walked him out. Then it’s time for Puck.
I get Puck out of the bedroom and pick him up to start walking out the door. My Grandpa stops me and says “Wait let me say goodbye to my best friend, he looks cold I’m going to get him a blanket.” He scurries to the laundry room and grabs a small blanket and puts it around my cat while I’m holding him. People, I watched my Grandpa give Puck and blanket, pat his head and give him a little kiss boop on Puck’s nose!
I start to walk out and ask Grandpa to grab the door for me and he says “You know, next time you come and visit.. If you want.. you can bring him back too. I’m really going to miss this guy.”
I kinda half heartily chuckle and say “Puck doesn’t really like car rides Grandpa, but we’ll see.”
Then... I shit you not... MY GRANDPA WALKED ME AND PUCK OUT TO MY JEEP SO HE COULD SAY ONE FINAL GOODBYE TO HIS BEST FRIEND!!
I put Puck in the Jeep and close the passenger door. I turn around to give my Grandpa a hug and tell him “Thank you so much for taking such great care of them Grandpa. I really appreciate it.” Of course I get a bit emotional when it comes to my boys and who I chose to trust to take of them.
Grandpa replies with,” Of course. You take care of my best friend and yourself. Make sure they don’t get out of the car or lost.”
I get onto the driver’s seat and turn my Jeep on. As I throw it in drive Puck lets out a little sad and confused meow as he stares at my Grandpa waving goodbye from the sidewalk.
*begin uncontrollable crying and crawling into fetal position while clutching your heart*
