Gundham froze when the classroom door opened, halfway through failing to pry open the door on the wire cage of rats. The only people still in the school at this time of night were the janitors, and he’d thought he’d successfully avoided them. But it wasn’t the janitor who entered, it was Kokichi.

WRITING SAMPLE (IF YES TO EITHER PREV. QUESTION):

In the morning, she rises at 4:30, 5:00 at the latest, depending on the schedule of those she was serving. Plenty of time to complete her own morning routine- pressing her uniform, preparing her breakfast and tea, then beginning on her master’s morning needs. It ranged anywhere from putting out freshly laundered clothes, to running a hot bath, guiding through morning stretches, through making sure they had an appropriate breakfast.

Every need was met with meticulous detail. She took pride in her work, and could not let anything pass her by.

It was nice, in it’s own way, to leave her own desires behind so fully, to dedicate herself to her master and her work. At times, Kirumi wondered if this was the coward’s way out, to alienate herself from her own soul and core, to become nothing but a vessel for others. But... it makes her happy. Content.

Of course, these moments of contemplation are rare with her schedule, but inevitably the thoughts swirl in her head during her nightly bath. The warm water, rare time just to herself tends to do that. She rinses the shampoo from her hair, idly penciling in a haircut to her schedule, it’s getting a bit long, will soon get in the way of her work. Frankly, if it was not off putting to those she serves, she would simply shave it all, easy to maintain and no chance of getting in her way.

But, inevitably, part of her position as a maid is to be appealing. Part of her service includes being palatable, attractive to look at. She watches her diet, works out every night before washing and readying herself for bed. It’s a fine line of strength, appearance, and aesthetic. She must remain a blank canvas, moldable to what her master desires.

As she steps out of the bath, toweling off, her mind reverts to the schedule for the next day, setting her alarm as she dresses for bed. Tomorrow, she will do it all again with a smile, just like always.
