Sunlight by Deas Vail + Soriku Explanation
Some days come and some days go, where do they get off running out on me? They're running to their symbols. We can't break up, can't break up with ourselves.
Riku feels a little bit jealous of Sora’s friendship with the other Destiny Island kids, but knows that Sora favors him.
I wanna, I wanna break through. I wish it were so simple. And underneath the colors of our skins, we are the same. We all began when everything was little.
Despite-- or perhaps because of-- Sora and Riku’s differences, they spend every waking moment together. Until Kairi arrives at the islands, and everything changes.
We want more than we can get. Isn't that the way we all like to live-- without reservations?
Riku realizes, at the age of around 12 or 13 that he wants more than just Sora’s friendship. But he figures that Sora doesn’t feel the same.
Sunlight is falling again, but it never touches us because we cover our eyes and cover our fragile skin, and we are comfortable with this.
Sora’s light is strong, but the darkness within Riku’s heart shields him from it, corrupting his love into jealousy and bitterness. He’s comfortable in the darkness because it hurts less than loving Sora.
Elevate the product of our sins. We are the soul of modern trends, or just the imitations?
Riku’s leftover darkness in his heart is the product of his sins, a remnant of the time when he was willing to hurt the one he loves the most.
Sunlight is falling again, but it never touches us because we cover our eyes and cover our fragile skin, and we are comfortable with this.
Riku once again has to shroud himself in darkness, but this time it’s all for Sora. He covers his eyes with the blindfold and hides his body behind the cloak. He’s comfortable with it because it’s all for Sora.
We can't forget what we came here with and what we'll have left when we leave. So here we stand, with our key in hand, with the ones who stood the closest slowly falling out of focus.

oh boy this is where it gets sad (also it switches to Sora’s POV!)
six hearts no sacrifice. need i say any more? no, but i will. Ironically, the lyrics say he can’t forget what (who) he came here with, but Sora forgets Riku by the end of the fight with the Real Organization XIII. He stands with the other keyblade wielders, and acknowledges Riku when he’s there, but as soon as Riku leaves Sora’s view, it’s like Sora doesn’t even remember him. Maybe because he doesn’t...

This time, Sora is the one who- accidentally- hides from the light (Riku) when he finds himself in Quadratum.
How can we hide ourselves like this? It doesn't seem like we all know where we belong, where we belong, where we belong...
Sora feels like something’s missing from his memories, but can’t place a finger on it. He knows something’s wrong.
