Welcome to... the Comfort Zone

It wasn't like you haven't heard muffled sobbing down the boy's dorm hall before. The fact that it'd be escalating as someone started knocking at your door this time around is what catches you off guard. Luckily, you had just finished one last homework sheet and weren't doing anything that'd cause this to be difficult to deal with. You lift yourself from the desk in the dorm room and make your way to the door.

Cracking it open gets you instantly greeted with a certain eccentric blond at your doorway turned into nothing more than a sniveling mess. Your posture stiffens and you simply step to the side while opening the door all the way to let him in. A comfort session seems to be in order tonight.

"What happened, Dame...?" is all you can muster to spin out. As there really is no other question to ask, is there?

He saw Touya and waved, but suddenly, a gust of wind came by that sounded like it had said "Ama is an assbaka". Who's Ama? What's an assbaka? We just don't know...

"Hey, Touya! I brought the goods!"

Touya didn't hear any such wind because shut the fuck up Murphy. Anyway, on a more serious note, he was waiting right outside, just as he had told his new friend that he would be. The day before Halloween-- it was probably chosen because it would be less rowdy, or whatever, and it would be less likely that they would get in trouble if they, by chance, happened to be "disturbing the peace." Or whatever. Actually, maybe it was the other way around, and they would get in more trouble for doing it on the day that was NOT Halloween, but, uh, he hadn't put that much thought into it, and it wasn't really the point, anyway.

Once he heard the semi-familiar voice, he looked up from where he had been leaning on his baseball bat and grinned in his direction. "Oh, yeah, cool. I'll tell you all about what's happenin' soon, alright? But I don't wanna have to explain twice, you know, so it's better to wait for now, I think."

Abe Takaya says (9:25 PM)

As Touya's room mate and Brendan's team mate, I guess Damion has some right to be here, if not solely by invitation. He, too, had brought along his batting gloves and favorite practicing bat-- but he wasn't quite sure how pumpkins and change were going to factor into a middle-of-the-night 3way game of baseball. Okay, well, they probably weren't playing baseball. Touya was being all enigmatic or whatever, and quite frankly it was just a touch disconcerting because a.) he didn't know Touya all that well past his ability to talk miles and b.) it looked like these three boys were set up for a really gruesome murder. Still, he trots along after the brunette, bat swung over his shoulder as he looks back towards the dorm building. He greets Brendan with a warbling "yOoOOo, cool guy!" and comes to stand between the two on them around the pumpkins in some sort of strange trifecta. "So, uh, Touya-- what's the sitch."

Murphy - says (9:29 PM)

He greets the blond with an equally as warbling "YO0oO0O0O0O0O" and grinned. He wanted to do some double pistols and a wink, but that might have been too far. Dropping the baggie of money on the ground, he too looked to Touya for the answers to this night's mysteries. "Yeah, yeah! What're we gonna be doing here?"

His gaze drops down to the pumpkins and he just shrugs at first. There's a pause before he speaks again, but at least it isn't too long, or else that would make him seem weird, or something. Touya glances back up and looks between the two of them before slowly grinning once more. "What, have you guys never smashed pumpkins before?"

Abe Takaya says (9:33 PM)

"What, like--" Damion looks down at the squash-fruit-things I don't know how pumpkins are categorized, but it's not like they ever did anything to him. "On purpose?"

His fingers drum on the base of his bat.

Murphy - says (9:35 PM)

"Woah!" Was all Brendan shouted out. Man, how exciting! He had always seen the hoodlums do this kinda stuff, but that was to other people's pumpkins. So, there was no harm in smashing your own, right? "Sweet! Is there any way you wanna go about this?"

"Well...yeah," Touya speaks uncertainly at first. "I mean, there's not really any other way to do it in this situation, unless you trip, or something." And he, at least, really didn't count on tripping.

He observes the pumpkins around the area, having set out a variety of them before they had arrived (excluding the small, cutesy ones, of course (he couldn't bring himself to smash those)) before

he begins to explain. "Well, y'know, it's an old tradition between some friends of mine in Unova. Basically, it's a contest, to see who can smash the most pumpkins. Except, the thing is, it can't just be one hit and then you switch to the next, because that's a little unfair, y'know? Three hits, then you switch, at least. Whoever wins, um.." He has to trail off there, thinking about it. "Well, you'll see, I guess."

Abe Takaya says (9:44 PM)

"Uhh," Damion starts. He's never been particularly articulate, but he grins and plants his foot on one of the larger pumpkins-- and incentive of victory is enough him. "Yeah, alright! Sounds fun!"

Murphy - says (9:46 PM)

Brendan rubbed his hands together, shooing away the cold and nodding in agreement. "Sounds good to me!"

Grabbing his bat, he stepped away and did a few practice hits against the ground. A moment passed and he turned back to the other two. "So! Who wants to start?"

Abe Takaya says (9:48 PM)

Damion's hand shoots up faster than a heroine addict. "Me! I do! Me first!" And before anyone can say jugenmujugenmugokonosurike, he takes off his bat from his shoulder, in striking position.

"Wait, it's supposed to be on the count of three.." His voice gets lower as he talks until the last part probably wasn't even heard because, well, he decides fuck that. Instead he positions himself in front of one of the pumpkins. "Alright, then, let's go! Oh, and don't hit anyone else, or else we're dead."

"Dead?!" The blond visibly jumps, bat taken aback. Further explanation is needed.

Dead....dang. This is serious business. Brendan took place in front of the last pumpkin in their row, taking aim and putting the bat above his head in a rather gruesome display of eagerness. "Alright, ready? One...two...THREE!" With that, the metal crashed into the flesh of the squash, making a noise similar to stepping on something squishy.

Yeah, same. Damion does the same, beating it as if it were a zombie.

Touya pauses for only a moment before smashing his own pumpkin once. He doesn't really move too quickly, seemingly taking his time, but it's not like he really cares about winning, anyway, especially since he's the one determining the prize. He hits the same pumpkin again and, ew, this time, because he hit harder, the pumpkin "guts" kind of splatter, hitting his cheek and shirt, along with being generally aimed towards the other two, as well.

Murphy - says (9:58 PM)

With the last two hits of the pumpkin, it was safe to say that he was soaked in it's guts. Apparently, the other boys were too, so he didn't really care. What he did care about at the moment was who had won that round. With eager eyes he glanced from Touya to Damion, and back again.

Abe Takaya says (10:15 PM)

DAMION!!! Smashes his pumpkin with three swings, one from the top, the side, and. The other side, he's very strategic about these sort of things, I guess, haha, these pumpkins are over ripe and he wishes he had worn some grodier clothing. ?? idk do they switch pumpkins now

It doesn't take long before he switches to another pumpkin himself, and then another, and another- In fact, it seems that in the moment time is going by very quickly, and that he can't seem to smash the pumpkins fast enough. He's still behind the others, but he doesn't really care. By the time he goes to switch to one more ..veggie.. though, it seems that there's not an unSQUASHed one left.

Leaning up, he blinks a few times. "It's over already?"

Murphy - says (10:21 PM)

Brendan looked around. There were three things he could tell from the moment at hand -- they were sufficiently covered in pumpkin remains, they were going to need showers, and most importantly -- they were out of pumpkins. He looked at the half-soaked bag of money he brought, and smiled. "Come on! We can just go get more! You up for that, Damion?"

Abe Takaya says (10:23 PM)

"More?!" The blond breathes out. His face is flushed in EXHILERATION! "Hell yeah! But first..." He takes a step back from the pumpkin guts, wiping off his face with his forearm. "Let's...make art."

He's about to ask if they even know who won, but the art statement catches his attention first. He smiles at the suggestion and examines the pumpkin guts below his feet, nudging them a little before nodding. "Uh, yeah? What do you have in mind?"

"Yeah...hmm." He thought about the things they could make with it, but nothing really came to mind. "Like, uh...a pumpkin snowman?"

Abe Takaya says (10:33 PM)

Damion shakes his head adamantly. "No, no-- can we even do that with pumpkin seeds? They're probably too heavy!" He sets his bat down (tenderly) and squats beside the squash. "Let's make it look like a dead guy."

"A dead guy." He lets that sit for a moment as he seems to weigh the consequences, but hey, whatever, he's a carefree guy. "Yeah, sure! Let's do it."

Murphy - says (10:34 PM)

"Heck yea!!" He laid the bat down and got to work, making a crude pair of legs out of the mush.

Abe Takaya says (10:36 PM)

Yeah, OK. They make the dead guy, and it looks pretty fuckin' disgusting actually, but Damion seems satisfied as he wipes his hands off at the side of his pant legs. "Alright! Let's go to uhh--" He pauses. "The store! Wherever that is!"

Murphy - says (10:37 PM)

"I think there's a grocery store around here...like...that way!" He carelessly pointed down one length of the road, the one that had more lights at the end of it. "Let's go that way!"

"Yeah, alright." He slings the bat over his shoulder, careful not to hit anyone, and holds it there. If he wasn't covered in pumpkin goo, he /might/ have looked like a delinquent. But probably not. "Lead the way, Bren."

And lead he did! They were making their way downtown, walking fast, faces pass...storebound. Unfortunately, a large patch of trees seperated them from the main road. "Alright, uh...." He touched his finger to his nose and shouted "NOSE GOES FOR THE LEADER THROUGH THE FOREST"

Oh, well, he doesn't mind leading, actually, but it seems that the little game had started before he got the chance to speak up. So, naturally, he touches a finger to his nose as well.

Damion wants to lead. As they both touch their noses, he makes no motion, only grinning. "All right! Follow me, wussies!" He steps forward. "Single file!" A steady march is given, as he holds his bat out, as if it were a sword.

Murphy - says (10:45 PM)

Brendan follows dutifully, like a soldier going into battle. It was really nothing like that, but still. His swor--bat hung to his side, he tightened his grip in case of a sneak attack.

He took the rear, glancing around. He doesn't make a move to change the position of his bat or anything- he just waits and follows. "C'mon, hurry up."

They're almos tthrough the forest when-- Damion gasps, and his shoulders lock up. "Shit," he curses, looking to either side of him-- what hte hell was that? He rubs his eyes and marches on, still, perhaps a bit hastier than before.

A rustle in the canopy! A tremble in the ground! The crunching of leaves beneath his shoes, oh, what could be happening?!

Damion's form disappears from in front of the two boys, a strangled cry melting away into the darkness.

Murphy - says (10:56 PM)

"..." Brendan goes flat-faced, pulling up his bat just in case. But after a moment's thought, he pulled out his little crank-powered flashlight from his back pocket, shining it in the direction of Damion's original location. "hm."

"Hm," he repeats, looking in the same direction. He doesn't know what else to say. Literally, he's speechless, but he's too confused for the fear to set in yet. "Wha.." Touya briefly wonders if he was dead, or something, and where he went, because he was there just a second ago, so how.. "Okay, Brendan, this is weird."

Murphy - says (10:58 PM)

"...Let's just go to the store. Maybe whatever got him will want to trade!"

"Uh, you think?" He blinks a few times, which he seems to be doing a lot this night. "Yeah, uh, I don't know, man. I have a feeling if there's a kidnapper, they're not going to be looking for a bag of Doritos or whatever we buy at the store. I mean, if I was a kidnapper, I'd take Doritos as ransom, but obviously I didn't do it, so.."

Murphy - says (11:05 PM)

"Yeah....hm." He got a burst of...excitement? in his eyes. He turned around to Touya, holding up his baseball bat. "I guess it's time to go kidnapper hunting!"

"Kidnapper hunting?" Well, it seemed like the obvious thing to do, so he nods in agreement. "Yeah, let's do it, except-.. I didn't see anyone grab him."

Murphy - says (11:10 PM)

"Oh..." Now that he thought about it, he did just kind of fade into the darkness. Hm. Well, this certainly was a mystery! "I guess we'll just look then! Keep your guard up. I think he went that way."

That way? He glances in that direction, but all he sees is trees, and.. Well, oh well. "Alright. We can split up if you think that's a good idea, but otherwise I'll follow you, I think? I mean, it's not like I know where he'd be."

"You're starting to sound like you DO....ha! Just joking. Yeah, follow me, and if you think something's happening, scream or something so I can save you!" With a goofy wink and a reassuring shine of his flashlight, he took off into the trees.

Abe Takaya says (11:15 PM)

MEANWHILE... Damion wakes up in the middle of the forest. He finds himself amidst a clearing. And most disconcertingly, his bat is gone...! He's covered in scratches as he stands and hollers out, using his gloved hands as a megaphone. "Hello?!"

Er, he somehow doubts that Brendan would be saving him, but.. Touya just nods encouragingly, because who was he to break his spirits? "...OK, but, I wonder if this is a trick, too." He follows after him, doing his best to keep sight of the other. It wasn't that hard with the flash light, really. "...Hey, did you hear something?"

Murphy - says (11:16 PM)

He stopped short, listening for a moment. "Yeah, I heard something." He handed Touya his bat, cupping his hands and shouting..."MARCO?"

Abe Takaya says (11:17 PM)

.....Marco? Damion turns around. "POLO...?"

"Who's Mar-" He shakes his head and just holds the bat in one hand, gripping it from the middle as he brings his own down.

Murphy - says (11:17 PM)

"MARCO!!!" He shouted again, following the sound of the polo.

"POLO...!!" The blond steps closer to where he can hear the voices and oh! There are Brendan and Touya, there just in tim to see that--

his pants are gone.

Murphy - says (11:23 PM)

...The brunette lets out a loud snort, shining the flashlight on Damion. "Dude! What the hell happened?"

"Uh--" He isn't even sure how to respond to this situation, so he just kind of stands there for a moment before looking away - I mean, it was.. the decent thing to do, right? Er. "Yeah, what.. happened?"

Abe Takaya says (11:30 PM)

"I dunno!" He seems baffled as the light shines upon him,a nd he trudges towards the other two boys, who look unharmed. "Have you guys seen my ba...t...???" He looks down at the ground, only to realise he's in his briefs oh no he jumps. It's breezy.

Murphy - says (11:31 PM)

"Uh...no? Dude, we just heard you yelling so we came to find you! We've both got ours, though!" He glanced down, only BRIEFly, and looked back up. "You, uh...wanna wrap my jacket around your waist....?"

Abe Takaya says (11:33 PM)

Damion frowns. "Yeah...." And he takes Brendan's jacket, sighing as he ties the sleeves around his waist.

Abe Takaya says (11:34 PM)

"Did you guys see anything?"

Murphy - says (11:34 PM)

"Only you in your birthday suit." He suppressed a laugh and coughed, looking around. "We didn't even see what grabbed you!"

Abe Takaya says (11:38 PM)

"Wh--! I've still got everything else on!" Pressing his lips together, the blond scratches his knee. "Why just the pants..." He mutters to himself, wincing as his nails run across a cut on his shin.

He just stayed quiet, looking around to make sure there's no sign of someone else around them. He's quite creeped out by this point, actually, but he doesn't want to admit it. Still.. "Do we really need to go to the store, or can we just head back?" He finally looks over at both of them once the jacket is situated. "I mean, we'd have to pass through the woods again if we went to the store, right? And then, I dunno, who knows? Next time, one of us might die instead of just losin' a pair of pants."

Murphy - says (11:42 PM)

"Hmm...you know, I kinda doubt the death thing. Yeah, whatever it was took his bat, and his pants, but...the scratches just look like they're from branches. I think it's a sick joke..."

"Uh huh.." He still wasn't completely convinced, but he just let it drop - for now, anyway. "Well, if you say so. Still, it could happen again, and then.. Okay, whatever. Yeah, let's go to the store, then."

"Wait!" Brendan stood in-between them and locked arms together, similar to the Wizard of Oz. "Now we can't get separated!"

"What! But I'm not wearing pants! I can't be seen in public like this!"
