Horizon: Zero Dawn
@silcntsinners asked: “I’m sorry for your… loss.” (hello & thank you!)
It always startles her whenever she meets someone else at the small, quaint church Carlisle had chosen for her son's resting place. She sees people, of course, but her child's grave is apart from the others, tucked away in a quiet place beneath a tree that blooms with cherry blossoms in the spring.
She's not sure how long she's been standing here. Long since dead flowers are clasped against her chest, a new amalgamation of flowers freshly trimmed, placed and watered adorning the otherwise grey headstone.
The date will give it away— 1921. Has it really been that long?
And so, as she finally lifts her head to greet the face of the voice she heared, Esme lies. "Thank you, but he was my grandmother's son... I tend to his grave when I can, to keep both their memories alive." Her gaze can't help but journey back to the name, so recently refreshed to keep it from fading. Then, a grain of truth. "She never got over losing him."
Linhardt. Is such a funny character. Like....Blood and war disgust him. But the month after I killed poor Ferdinand in BL route, I found him by the graveyard saying he can’t grieve if he doesn’t care, and he said there’s no point in respecting the dead because they’re dead,,they can’t hear you.
Ily Lin but bruh thats so rude LOL
do it.
I’m honestly expecting to die at any time.
NOT ANTHONY HEAD.
Esme being so fucked up after the events of E.clipse? Watching F.elix just e.xecuting B.ree without a second thought? Knowing if she stayed with Charles he'd have probably ended her life similarly to that? Feeling like her own parents who turned a blind eye to her distress.
Watching all those young kids d.ie and by her own hand?
Even V.ictoria... she doesn't want this woman to die. She wished to reach across the aisle and solve this dispute civilly, but the chance never arose and Esme can't help but feel the weight of that in the aftermath of everything that happened.
